take them to court and if you have a dead clutch tell the court the whole tranny has to be replaced with a new one
hurt them and they will avoid doing it again..at least to you. |

Randy or Mike, I'll think you'll need to erase this thread when the cops are looking for a evidence on the foul play behind these guys' deaths. -Aaron

I would think you would have made sure all this happened already, but just in case: Talk to the police and tell them everything you know about the alleged theives. Make sure they take the statements from your students (the ones who spotted the car and the theives), including a physical description of anyone involved. And make sure the police know you want to press charges. If you give them an address and what not, the police will most likely go and question the occupants of the residence. If they feel convinced, they should make an arrest. The fact that they are even bothering to hold the vehicle for fingerprinting leads me to believe the local law enforcement are taking the case seriously.
You may have to give the D.A. a call on Monday just to find out what's up. If he feels convinced there is enough evidence to prove culpability he should subpena the culprits for a court date. Above all just remain relaxed and confident in the fact that you will see justice in this matter. If you know who did it (which is appears you do) and there is evidence (which it sounds like there is, including likely fingerprint evidence on that sticker those morons forgot about), then the culprits will be prosecuted. As far as your costs and what not go, if found guilty the Judge should hook you up with restitution. More often than not, when there are eyewitnesses and fingerprint evidence, that is how it goes down. Last edited by FifthElement; 03-01-2003 at 04:58 PM. |

I should get my car back monday evening. I will then lock it in the garage and begin re-keying the vehicle.
I can call the detective working the case directly. Oh man the imagination is running wild with the picture of 30 SVXs rolling up to this guys house! The possibilities! Thanks to everyone for your input. I will keep you posted on the matter Mike

Mitch is saying what I said in a slightly different fashion.
Support the police. If they feel there is enough evidence, they will prosecute. Don't get into a pissing competition with low-lifes. You lower yourself to their level. If you teach auto training as I suspect, you have a duty to your students and to the community to do the correct thing in this case. High moral ground position is rarely served by emotion or rant. The police detective you speak of will have the experience to tell you what CAN be done in these circumstances, as opposed to what you would like to do. While you are in the humour to dish out restitution, don't forget to give yourself a right bo**icking for leaving the keys in the car. You would not be in this situation if you hadn't. Joe

Congrats on getting your car back and in "better than it could have been in" shape. Frankly I would consider myself lucky and just be grateful I got my car back. Take 'em to court if you like but I doubt you'll get any satisfaction form it mush less money for damages caused. Especially if they were minors.
Get yourself a spare key to keep on you so you can warm up your car in the morning and keep it locked up. I am of the mind that there is little excuse for theft, no matter how easy it is, but in this world it doesn't mean a thing. I also believe there is NO excuse for rape but time and again they manage to blame the woman for wearing a skirt that was too short for her own good while walking in a neighborhood she should have known better than to go into. It's just the mentality of the times. Anyway, I'm just happy you got your car back in one piece!

When a friend of mine was getting his mailbox blown up by some neighborhood kids he asked the officer that came to investigate what he could do about it if he caught them in the act. The officer told him to "punch them in the stomach. It's impossible for them to prove anything if you do that".
So there you go, straight from the mouth of the law. Choose the higher ground and when no one is looking punch them in the gut!!

A piece of 1 1/2" hose across the side of the head and face works much better.
