'97 SVX Was Almost n a Concours Event

Well, it was a grand idea, but one without much hope of success ... There is an up and coming Pinehurst Concours d'elegance show in NC the first of May this year. This is their third annual show, and they hope to compete with Pebble Beach at some point - I think they just might do that, based on the show I attended last year (their second). Here's the link for the show: http://pinehurstconcours.com/
and here are some photos I took while there last year: http://s222.photobucket.com/user/new...?sort=6&page=1

So .... my '97 is reasonably clean and I figured most people had never seen one of our pride and joys, so I sent in an application to enter the car in the "Un-restored" class. Keep in mind that they also have late model Porsches and the like on display as well (or they did LAST year, anyway) .... Well, needless to say, I was turned down, but in a very nice way. They said, "Harry,Thank you for your application to the 2015 Pinehurst Concours d'elegance. At the most recent selection committee meeting the group decided that your entry unfortunately would not be extended an invitation to this year's event.
We would love for you to attend this year's show as our guest, so please let us know if we can send you two complimentary tickets..Thanks again..."

So, I'll be going but not showing the SVX ... Bummer, but at least they "considered" it to be showed. I have asked for reasons why not selected, but I have not heard back ... maybe next year? Who knows? But it was fun filling out the five page application form, complete with history of the car and photos, front, side, rear, interior, engine shots .... One day they will come to appreciate this car!!

Harry

sounds like the show committee head has a buddy who wants to win the unrestored class, in a car other than your SVX….

Japanese cars don't get much respect.

They're rare at shows and even auctions like Barrett Jackson.

Very slowly, I see Japanese cars gaining more respect. Some day. I have patience plus, it it still is a joy to drive.

So, Harry, since you'll be passing by our Virginny residence, feel free to drop by, & spend the night on a real comfy sleep sofa. And as you have a free extra ticket. I'll be most happy to help you use it. Glad to be of assistance.

Ron.

Harry

Good for you!! My guess is that you'll get a response along the lines of "not yet old enough/rare enough"

Bravo for filling out and submitting the form as well as following up!

Bill
