Cadillac STS

Saw a 92ish Cadillac Seville STS on the road yesterday. Four tailpipes. Found an identical looking car in the local classifieds with 4,9L V8 giving....202hp???!

Re: Cadillac STS

It's much more likely that it was a 4.6L at ~295 hp. Unless I'm mistaken, GM hadn't done anything with a 4.9L engine in a good long time at that point.

Re: Cadillac STS

It is a 4.9L V8 OHV 16 valve FI, 4 speed auto, 200hp@4,100rpm,Torque: 275 ft-lbs. @ 3000 rpm. Probably very rare in Norway. There's not many left on the road here in salt land either.
Even an SVX would beat it.

They went to the Northstar 4.6L with 295hp in 1993.

Re: Cadillac STS

I stand corrected! It looks like the [Cadillac] 4.9L didn't see much use outside of 1992-1993. Considering its output, that's probably a good thing.

Re: Cadillac STS

Yes, 4.9L and 200 hp sounds just totally, totally wrong. Especially when Subaru at the same time produces a 3.3L which gives 230 in what can be regarded as a "downtuned" output due to the general tolerances of the engine.

I have little insight, but exactly which parts in the EG33 do you need to change to higher quality / tolerance to attain 300 hp in N/A form completely reliably and enduring?
