Re: installing quasi stebro exhaust as i speak!

Not really, they've been operating just like that for what seems like quite a while. It seems like people are happy enough with their exhausts that they can stay in business.

Or you're a dummy like me and are naive enough to think what happens to others won't happen to you

Other than adding precats what else would you suggest to reduce noise?
If there is no resonator(behind the main cat) you might want to put one in. Or use an appropriate sized glasspack as it should do the same thing but cost less.
As to appropriate sized, ask a muffler shop they should have the best information on it.

I would not add precats either the resonator should take care of the drone ie cancel it out with out the added costs.

If you want an idea of why I know I have a couple of video's. My original exhaust was dual 2" piping with only glasspacks. Sound was pretty amazing but the drone was unbearable. I added 2 magnaflows at the end and the sound was great with no drone.
I do not remember if I have those videos up on the forum I will look and if I dont I will add them.

Ok found it

I also have a recent, May 2011 video which just shows how it sounds after lots of break in time.

The muffler on my stebro is definitely custom fabricated. Do you have a picture of yours?

Re: installing quasi stebro exhaust as i speak!

here's the link http://s1083.photobucket.com/albums/j386/westphalc2/

These are pics of the stebro exhaust and the front y-pipe i received. I just realized I never took a pic of the center section (with the resonator). I have a pic of it installed (this section had to be cut to fit the converter and y-pipes properly).

I also have pics of the manifolds I had hot tanked and cleaned up. Still working on the installed pics

92 SVX, so you added magnaflow mufflers/resonators in addition to the glasspacks?

If so what is your configuration? Magnaflows before/after the glasspacks?

the magnaflows are the mufflers, the glasspacks act as the resonators.
my configuration will be different then yours for the simple reason I did dual piping front to back.
my glass packs are roughly midway down the car with the magnaflow's right behind the rear axle.

For your set up with dual to Y and single to the muffler at the back then out to dual your going to want a something maybe 2 feet behind the Y I would think.

Re: installing quasi stebro exhaust as i speak!

The stebro center pipe comes with a resonator, albeit very small, so I am not sure if another resonator would be overkill?

Current setup is straight y-pipe into a high flow catalytic converter then into the center pipe w/resonator to the muffler. I am thinking of another resonator towards the back AND possibly installing two pre-cats in the y-pipes, i am sure i am way over taxing the one converter and will soon have the buzzing bee issue. I'll run this by my exhaust guy and see what he says.

Probably the best as they deal with this daily.

I used 20" + I never measured so I am unsure of exact length, glasspacks the longer they are the more damping they do, I would guess the same for the resonator.
