Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Nice SVX! I feel the gold wheels on Teal give it slight Lotus (Green/Yellow) feel.

Noting that the (original) Lotus Esprit and SVX share the same designer.

Cheers!
Ian.

I accidentally looked to see if an SVX was for sale, and there was, so I bought it

Put a new battery in and discovered the brake lines are leaking somewhere in front of the right rear tire.

That's the primary reason I parked mine ...damn like almost 2 years ago. Whilst doing maintenance on my Impreza coupe recently, the rear brake lines disintegrated in the very same spot.
It's right where the lines that run the length of the chassis inside transition to the exterior, as you said, right before the rear wheel. Kind of a pain in the ass spot, as it's not actually the shorter rear lines but the long mid lines. I got a brake flaring kit and started practicing, it's not too difficult and will probly save me a fortune to be able to patch my own lines.

Edit: damn I gotta check my 97 LGT...

Use copper-nickel for your new lines. Much easier to bend and flare than steel.

That's sad... Spec B is at the top of my list of favorite sport sedans.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Some of you might have seen my facebook svx nation post. But my car failed to start after being driven just a few weeks prior. I was in the middle of moving to a new place and wanted to set everything up at my new house before bringing my SVX over. Well. I had my previous place all cleaned and up was about to drive the SVX over and lol it didnt start.

Long story short, it turned out to be a faulty connector above the fuel pump. unplugged connector, cleaned, plugged back in, and runs.

SOooo yea, that's what I've done lately

Ready for winter. Another application of Rust Check and winter tires are mounted.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Changed the rear differential oil , in hopes the binding will stop. Regardless of whether this cures the problem, it sure needed it . The drain plug magnet was fully encrusted, the oil very dark and loaded with metallic sparkles. I can`t believe how much the previous owner neglected this car. Now I have to assume the front diff is just as bad, if not worse, but harder to get to, without a lift.
