Re: help with a noise

Does it do it randomly, or does it do it under specific conditions? I would drain the transmission (17mm plug on the pan, get a new sealing washer from the dealer) and drop the pan and make sure there isn't anything in there, if it's shifting fine, it might just be a loose bracket or something, but sure would suck for it to bounce up into the guts of the tranny and toast something.

I don't know if you can get a tube of Three Bond or not, check with your local Subaru dealer, since as far as I remember there isn't a gasket on the transmission pan, just goo. (Don't use silicone! If anything use a tube of "the right stuff" gasket maker if you can't get a tube of Tree Bond.)

I'll get a PDF from the service manual and attach it, for removal of the pan. I just tried to get it but the site is being a pain in the arse...

There is a gasket and the gasket comes in a transmission filter kit

I got bad news for you.... The pinion bearing in your front diff is one its way out and once it goes you'll know. My recently did the same thing. In a matter of 2 days it when from a very soft sound to loud. ONce it got loud it was a matter of 15 miles before it when and took front diff with it.

I could be wrong but ... The guru's on here will probably say the same.

its part of your front diff meaning your front differential is going bad.
