Igor, It's alive

I've done some work on the car forever ago and during this time my Mother-in-Law developed pancreatic cancer and passed away so a one weekend job became a 6 month job. Most of the time the car just sat in the garage and waited for me to come home.

I replaced the T-belt, water pump, thermostat, cam and crank seals, cam plugs, radiator (PWR), radiator hoses, tranny fluid, internal and external tranny filters, xfer case fluid, power steering fluid w/seals, accessory belts, oil w/amsoil, oil filter w/the bigger purolator filter, and a fuel filter.

This was a monumental feat for me because I'm no mechanic. The car was ready to start a week ago but I kept putting it off Because I was just plain scared. I thought for sure that the T-belt would jump a tooth or the rad would blow up or something.

I turned the key tonight and she fired right up. No hesitation, no cranking, it was like I never opened the hood. Or I should say that it was like another mechanic worked on it. I let it run for about 15 minutes - until it came up to temp and then shut it down. It's still up on the ramps. I still have to put the shields back on. And I wanted to check for leaks.

Everything looked good so I called my wife and let her know the good news and as I was talking to her, antifreeze started dripping out. At first, it was slow and then the drip became a stream. Hmmn, I crawled under and found that I had missed the bottom hose clamp at the engine side. Easy fix. Good thing that I didn't take it out and run it for 10 miles or so.

She'll prob sit in the garage for another month because we're going into installation mode at work for the next month. 12 hrs, 7 days a week. bummer! I'll miss the fall color change this year.

But SHE'S ALIVE!!!

Congratulations! It's always great to fire up a project. Now go drive it like you stole it.

what are you.. me?
at least 12 a day with every other weekend off... sometimes

I was terrified the first time I turned the key after doing more than an air filter... felt good hearing the engine purr, hard to top that

Congratulations on a good job even if it was over many months. There is always great satisfaction when you finish a job like that.

---- and do it properly, which is more than many professionals will do for you. The experience will be worth gold.
