Why Knot??

That is what it is good at and that's what I am gonna do with it. Just make sure that the small problems you are willing to overlook as a daily driver don't become major ones inbetween Nowhere and BFE. BTW it has already been from here to Ohio and back with no problems. It was great to see the outside temp at three digits (Atlanta to Macon) and I still didn't get the inside below 75. The only area of concern was the hot smell of the underhood whenever you stopped. All this and 28MPG at 80.

I will say that since most of us have bought these as "used" the previous owners may have not excercised good judgement as to proper maintance. It would do you well to identify and repair ANY problems before you leave.

I've road tripped some dubious cars. It's 650mi from here to my mom in MI. I've made the trip in a $75 Ford Pinto, A knocking '78 Grand Prix, A '95 Taurus with known tranny issues ETC
Interstate travelling is actually EASIER on your car than in town driving. The SVX is turning what 3500rpm @ 75mph? It SHOULD do that all day if everything else is up to snuff. With the TC locked it's easier on the trans too, not as much heat buildup.
I say DRIVE the car, that's what it's made for!

If my 87 GL turbo wagon can make it from Laramie, Wyoming to Albany, Oregon (1200 miles) and back without breaking anything, I think your SVX will do just fine

Road tripping in skechy cars is the most fun.

I just brought home a 92 Ebony that was 150mi away. I did nothing but stop at a Napa in another town to get new wipers
And you have the RPM's wrong. I was doing 80 and it was running at 2400.
Now thats a Interstate Cruiser I plan on making a 6K road trip in it next year. Going to be bringing it to the Dragon Meet 08.

On a side note....Has anyone encountered problems with the fuel gauge?
I went from 3/4 tank to empty in about 75mi. I freaked out when I looked down and saw it almost on empty and if I missed the exit in less than 1/4mi, it was another 50+mi to the next station. When I filled the tank, it only took 8gal. I was relieved, but still concerned that I may have a malfunctioning fuel gauge.
Sorry for the HJ.

I drove a 86 GL-10 Turbo sedan 150 miles, from Hood River to Albany, Oregon, on a cracked head with the temp gauge one bar from the red the whole time...
and with 316,000 miles on it! Still runs great, esp. with new heads :-P
