transmission issues, duh duh duhduh

ok this on an svx that i havent even seen yet, the current owner states that the transsmission shifts fine untill it warms up, meaning all forward gears, and reverse fine, then you lose all gears and it won't move under it's own power any ideas? i wish i had a better description but i havent been out to look at the car yet

Not necessarily so, but likely. There could be something less costly causing the trouble. However you should price the car as if a transmission rebuild will be required. If you do a deal, further investigation could mean, I repeat could mean, you got a bargain.

For $300, jump on it. Between you, Phil, Mike and whoever else you got out there a tranny swap is possible while keeping your total below $1000...

i feel pretty confident i could handle a trannie swap alone(i've done three on the death wedge) but, it also needs a windsheild

I'm sure you could, but its always better to have others there to help. That way you have someone to blame problems on later. That's why me and Ben are always asking Matt over to help us out

eh.. a windshield will put the total bill over $1k, but there has been some talk lately of new windshields for a decent price...

Definitely get it for that price Jeff.
And there is an aftermarket company making windshields for the SVX now for under $300.

You can e-mail me direct if you want for questions, as I'll see it faster that way.

Problem is you need to get the gasket off too as it comes as one piece and the gasket isn't available from Subaru. Not the easiest thing to do by any means but that's just MY OPINION having removed one with Hocrest.
