Rear sub speaker enclosure (new)

We are developing a small fiberglass
speaker enclosure to fit snugly in the left
corner of the trunk area.
It will be able to hold a 6, 8 or 10" sub of your
choice or we will offer some stuff too.
Anyone interested in a little more bass, and not
lose room in our already small trunks, may want
to keep an eye on this thread..I hope to have it
covered, wired and installed by Friday with a
10" (I was going to start with an 8" but I have
a decent 10" lying around).

i likey... i just made one for my car last week. did you lay aluminum foil down before you layed your mat?

no, actually we used rows 2" wide masking tape

this is how its looking so far...
using a 10" sub.....

Still offers enough area for sound
and hardly takes up any room at all
total weight maybe 15lbs with speaker.

Next we have to cover it and do rest of the
install...

FYI, we are going to make the next one using
a 8" sub, probably a JL unit

the 10" is a little more aggressive
while the 8" wont stick out as much.

Are you planning to make an identical one for the other side? Then you could run two 8" subs as an option.

the other side has the waterbottle tucked back there and
doesnt have enough room to really have the space needed
The whole reason to do one nice enclosure was to keep as much
usuable room as possible. One good 6, 8 or 10" with a good
amp, crossover and deck will make plenty of good sound for
I think most stereo enthusiast

we could make one for the other side, sure but Id say
try one and see if you even need another later

where did you mount your amp(s)?
I didn't take pictures of mine, but I made a fixture that holds my amp upside down inbetween the rear deck speakers...this way I could still fit a full sized tire in the trunk amongst other things.
I don't have two amps but the one I have powers my main speakers...I do like your idea for the sub!!

I have one amp, this is what I had in my other Svx
3 yrs ago (hated it) and never put it back in my new
car till now. I lost interest in good sound for a few yrs
anyway, but now Im sort of looking forward to it again.
Havent decided where to put my amp yet, but your
idea has been one option so far. I should know in a few
days

its pretty much done...
we can cover it in: dk vinyl like shown, or an
almost carpet material like the trunk mat material
or even a cool suede like the interior in lite or dk grey
too

This is again using the 10"
we are working on the enclosure for the person
who may not want something this agressive sounding.
But I wanted to do at least an 8 and 10 and have both
options available.
We molded this up around the edges to the screen
blends in better with the unit.

its not bolted in yet, its just sort of pushed in
the corner for now. Once I mount it all the way
the seems will be almost flush ...
We are going to offer it for the 8 or 10"
sub and w or w/o a sub. So you can use yours or
one we offer.
You can also invert the sub if you want if you are
going for a attention getter

That looks great Dayle!.. Ok...how are you fastening it to the car? Are you going to include fasteners when you sell it? My trunk wall side lining..(the gray stuff) isn't secure to the car near the tailight/antenna section..it just wont stay in the weatherstripping channel...will this pose a problem with that design?
Are you going to sell the box/speaker for both sizes?? and what would your price be?


I should take a picture of where I mounted my amp for you...I made a hinged plate to mount it on, so when I work on it, I can flip the amp down to wire it.

I can sell you the one out of my car if you dont want to wait
to get it made, wont bother me.
Not sure of the price yet, but they are going to be over $300
Im pretty sure w/o the speaker...
still working on the price etc.

just 2 self tapping small screws into the rear deck area
wont even see them even if you pull it out.
send me pics of how you did your amp, sounds cool
