It gets way too hot in the SVX during the summer. I have to open the doors and windows to let it air out before driving anywhere.

I was gonna say nothing, the car is perfect, but this gets to me sometimes. Mine is way too dark and obviously plastic. Looks good, but it's a cheap good.

My center console doesn't open merely from pressing the button so I dunno what's the deal with you guys.

SVX ISSUES !!!!!!!!

Well lets see, the rusty doors just drive me crazy, the brown rusty looking spots on the doors speaker are annoying I am not sure what do about that. The lumbar bar seems to be a joke in my car as well as the cute cheap looking cup holder. The first time I use the cup holder on my return trip from purchasing the car in Illinois. The entire thing came with the cup of coffee when I was driving. What the heck, I thought ………lol now I bet there’s a truck driver had to of seen me just having a good old laugh….lol

*Achem*

#1. Passenger rear window fell off track, need a 'plastic clip'.
#2. Sometimes have slight fuel smell eminating from the engine bay.
#3. Dome Light doesn't Work.
#4. Problem with the wiring with the drivers side stop bulb so every time I hit the brakes I see a bright red "STOP LAMP" light.
#5. Transmission shifts rough sometimes from 1st to second.
#6. Nice big tear in the drivers seat where the stitching is.
#7. No Passenger side sun visor, and every time I bid on one on ebay someone snipes at the last second.
#8. Cd Player has a mind of its own, also doesn't like burned CD's very much.
#9. Sunroof needs help opening.
#10. Strange 'mind of its own' vibration noise coming from the rear deck.
#11. Blown hood struts.
#12. Blown trunk struts (gotta be careful closin that thing, its HEAVY)
#13. Gas gauge works fine, but I suspect the low fuel light does not.
#14. Button fell out of the center console, so now I have to jam my finger in there to get it to open.
#15. The fake wood is ugly looking and worn, just looks like cheap-y plastic now.
#16. For some reason when the a/c is not on, hot air comes up from the floorboard area, but goes away when the a/c is on.
#17. NO CLIMATE CONTROL... What were they thinking? Maybe it would be nice to not have the air blowing in your face all the time, what if your feet get cold in the winter? There is no way to direct the air to the floor only.
And Lastly....
#18. NO CUP HOLDER...

Ok, enough ranting...

Fixed the console with those little screws.

But I do have this strange rattle almost like Tin under the left side of the dash. Anyone else have that?

Try the Wedgie - that is the cheapest and easiest one to use.

-Door lock buttons in the doors impossible to reach without uncomfortable contortions. Mine's a '92 so NO central locking switch on the console!

-I like to have warm air blowing from the dash vents on my hands in the winter, but Subaru says 'your feet are more important than your hands and you don't get a choice'.

LMAO DAVE!

the bad thing is this here be arizona... We dont have much use for heat, or heated mirrors or heated seats.. Maybe for a couple weeks in the absolute DEAD of winter... Now if there were a cheap way for me to make some custom seat coolers to keep my back cool despite the dark leather... Now there's a fantastic idea

-smokey the bandit from engine oil spilling on the driver side exhaust (gotta not rev too much or else high oil spillage)
-resonating heat shield on higher revs when just starting
-cracked top/rear leather seats
-hood struts shot
-trunk hood struts shot
-high pitched, squealing sound from rear passenger wheel, sounds like a metal fan with one blade trying to get started and slightly scraping metal, comes out only when I turn and weight leans on that side
-tachometer don't work (well I rev high and I only get back 1000 rpm's)
-radio door doesn't open all the way without my help
-driver side shoulder belt only opens (foward) when door opens so I pulled the plug and keep the belt latch back
-I like how the "windows" look but my arm is a little too long to freely stick my hand out and say thanks or flick off someone
ummm... that's it for now. Other than that, I love this car alot .

Im considering more like design flaws etc...
centercaps cant hold paint to save their lives
(but the wheels seem do do okay)
sunroofs common Nudge needed to open
(but again, they always seem to work unlike
most cars...)
The notorious gas gauge that from full
to about half "works"....
(then goes to empty)
..then at about 1/4 tank
starts working again till empty
the fact that most replacement parts are
dealer item only pretty much irks me more then
anything..
Still love the cars though, Im up to 5 again.

Ok ok, now me, now me

Um....

fading red paint
headlights are oxidized
hood stuts
center caps
car leaks heavy oil (1 quart in 1 week)
car leaks power stering fluid (just as bad as oil)
gas gauge
sun roof (the push thing)
pass front window now rolls half way down (but for a while it didnt roll down at all)
both cv joint needs to be replaced
sterring wheel all ripped up (and now shakes after 25 mph)
hole in the side of drivers seat
tape player doesnt work
all 6 speakers are no good
plastic piece for the trunk opener broke off
plastic pieces for both front seats broke off
center console buton
rear ashtray just says open
crack in windsheild
motor mounts are no good
ac only works on cold when i hit the middle button (not on high or low)
glove compartment wont lock
(just started doing this) acts like the battery is dead when i start but if i hold it down then she'll start
semi new tranny shifts real hard from 1st to 2nd when driving slow (warrenty expired)
........ And now.... my personal beefs.

not worth alot but costs alot (in general up keep and kbb )
no 5 speed gear box
heavy (but rides soo beautifully so cant really complain )
parts are hard to come by (and not alot of interchangable parts)
worried about leaving it (no matter where im at)
16" wheels (love the stock wheel design, just wish they were bigger)
hard to find rims that not only look good but fit
and my fav........
..........................not low enough

But i've wanted an SVX for soo long
since i was 8.
So the problems are not bad for me.

"not worth alot but costs alot" this comment means "in general" only

I love this car and im never selling her.
I bought her from original owner with all records
she has 253,748 on original motor and still going strong

*boot rattles with subs
*stereo compartment is hard to access without scratching surrounds
*sunroof needs 2 hands to open(have to push it at the back while holding open button
*drivers door has to be closed reasonably hard to shut properly
*how the heck do the rear seat headrests come off
*AC at 24c smells like Maple syrup?????????????
*glove compartment needs to be closed with force to shut properly
*what the hell fits in a glove box that small!!!
*hot car in summer(all windows & roof open during any day with sunlight)
*coin holder is ****
*cant do things with the gf in there comfortably
*very small boot entrance
*slow automatic seats
still a cool car

Yeah, it's so dark and fake looking, it almost doesn't look like... well, fake wood.

Funny the ecsaine doesn't bother me. I just can't stand plastic "woodgrain" anything.

Oh, I just thought of another thing about the SVX that irks me: The bleepin' glovebox. Good for a pair of gloves, and not much else.
