Desperately seeking help in NYC area

I've had a 94 LSi from new and babied it to 116K when tranny failed, then made the mistake of going to Aamco... One year later, at 118K tranny is dead again. The car is otherwise in incredible shape and I can't bring myself to sell/part/junk it. Am desperately seeking honest experienced SVX mechanic in NY tri-state area to see what options I have- maybe including a manual tranny.

No warranty on that Aamco work after one year and 2000 miles? I'd pester them but good.

Can't help you out with any recommendations, but remember: You don't necessarily need an "SVX mechanic;" any competent mechanic can work on your car with fine results.

Definately become a pain in Aamcos ass

If you get nowhere with them, talk to Tomssvx. He's in NJ and does great work on SVX's.

Your pretty close to me. IM in white plains and i see your only about 5 minutes away in Rye. I believe Tom stopped doing work on SVX's. I havent been able to talk to him about it though. John in tuckerton does work on SVX's too and he has a trailer to tow a car if needed. Avvppow i think is his member name.

AvPPoW, yes. He does work. Seeing as Tom is taking a much needed break, Im sure he wouldnt mind passing the work on. Try finding the "Mechanic available in new jersey" thread (If memory serves correctly theres two..one for tom and one for John) to see the whereabouts of labor rates ect.

Have you tried talk to the Aamco and see if you could get anything?
