Help locating near mint/mint svx-ours got clobbered!

Well, some poor NY bastid in a new S-ow U-gly V-ehicle managed to place himself directly in front of my wife tooling along in her 97 blackie tonight at the precise moment for them to meet.

He got out and admitted fault at least. She got some airbags burns on her hand(so far) and a stiff neck but the svx looks ugly. On top of losing her mom 3 months ago, now this.

Any ways, we'd REALLY APPRECIATE any leads on an excellent or better SVX for sale since we've owned one since new in 1993. With all the fabulous cars made in the last 13 years, she still is in love with her SVX. THANKS in advance-you guys are the best on the web for boards.

Jeff,

Glad your wife is OK, and sorry about her SVX.
Now go out and get her a 'new' one if her's is totaled.

Jeff, I'm sorry to hear this. I do hope your wife is OK, do wish her all the best.

Sorry also to hear she has lost her Mom, a great wrench in her life. Maybe you can use the search for a nice SVX as an emotional pick-me-up for her. Lord knows she needs it. Give her something to get involved with, that has a positive bonus at the end of the trail.

I hope she is not too bruised, and I wish you both well in the search. The guys here will help if they can, for sure.

Joe

Too bad about your loss; glad your wife's okay.

Someone here on the forum said that this one is owned by a Subaru dealer, so you'd have to figure it wants for nothing. Pricey, though, and a good ways from you:

Pardon the size of the link; the network doesn't give me the option to rename. Good luck in your search.

Man, not another SVX accident. Ouch! Sorry to hear about it.

Yesterday evening a jerk in a Jeep SUV went from the left lane, cut right in front of me to make a sharp right -- I hit the ABS full on and barely missed him -- I was in my Outback.

Thanks for the thoughts. It was her beloved 97 too. We realized the guy was trying to cross a 2 lane, double yellow lined road from one parking lot to another so she t boned him.

Odd that the podunk police dept report won't be ready for up to a week. At least the guy admitted fault in front of the cop.

And I yakked with an old guy in CA last night about his 96 LSI w/26k on it. He only wants double Kellys for it though. How can you own a svx and only drive it 6000 miles in 7 years??

Mint or near mint? If you are serious and have the $$, William Mattingly over on the SVX Yahoo Group has his for sale, a '96 burgundy with 28K miles, just like new in every respect, garage kept, Southern California car. He is proud of it, wants $15K for it, and may not budge off that price. If you are truly looking for a near-new SVX, his may be the closest thing you will find. Go over to the SVX Yahoo Group and look up William Mattingly, send him an email and he will respond. Glad your wife wasn't injured. Best wishes.

Talked to him a couple nights ago. he paid 22k in 99 and sounds firm on that price. There are lots of nice cars in the 15k range-guess he really wants to keep his. 15k is over double the KBB price...

Yes, I know $15K is a high price for any SVX, but I wonder where you might buy one as pristine as Mattingly's for less. In a used car such as the SVX, condition is everything when determining price. KBB, NADA, etc. give a price range based upon sales across a region. It is only a "guide" to pricing. Not one used car dealership in the nation sticks with "book" price when they have an exceptional car on their lot. That's the meaning of "exceptional," it is an exception to the norm. I wish you the best as you try to find the right car to replace your SVX. My advice - don't rush into anything. Take your time and the right car will come to you.
