Dumbest ticket.

I used to go to IIT. The public safety kept giving me parking tickets. By the time I left school, I had a few hundred parking tickets. The best thing is that they don't report and can't do anything about their own ticket.

This may not top the "not stopped long enough" one, but a couple years back when i was still seeing marisa we'd come back to Texas from kansas every couple of months to visit her parents and on the way down i got a ticket for 80 in a 70 on I-35, which i deserved i guess. Then on the way home we decided to take 281 instead of I35 and first i got pulled over for doing 76 in a 70 (ticket). Then an hour and a half later when it went down to a two lane road i was in the middle of about 7 cars and we were all doing 70 but a cop drove past us going the other way. He turned around and caught up to me and pulled me over. I knew that i wasn't speeding as i was going 70 with all the other cars so i did something which now i think was dumb, but i was pissed. I immediately got out of the SVX and stormed back to the troopers car and asked him (a big black cop, and a stocky white guy who was getting out of the passengers side) what the hell thier problem was! I told them that i know i wasn't speeding so they better have a damn good reason for pulling me over. The were calm and told me to settle down and told me they clocked me going 74 in a 70. I told them they were full of $hit and that i had already gotten a ticket earlier and know i wasn't speeding this time. They looked at each other and the white guy shrugged and they asked to see my license. i gave it to them but they didn't ask to see my insurance verification which i thought was odd, but anyway, they he ran it while i stood there leaning against the troopers car talking to the white guy. The black guy came back and said he was only going to give me a written warning and let me go.
So Marisa and I took off again but this time i let her drive since apparently i had a big sticker on my head saying "Pull me over" and another couple hours later Marisa got pulled over and given a warning for not having a front lisence plate (it was a KS registered car so we don't need two, just the back one) and a warning for going 72 in a 70!!!!
I swear, i don't know what the hell was going on in texas that weekend but it was really pissing us off. All the way back up through OK and KS was a quiet trip. No cops at all.

Haha - reminds me of U.B. in my little red wagon. Parking was horrible there so I parked illegally alot to make it to class on time. Once they gave me a ticket and wrote the wrong plate number on it so I used to park and then put that ticket under the wiper blade to avoid getting another one. Worked great for months until one day I came out to find another ticket along with it.

I've been handed a few tickets here and there, but the last one (for a moving violation) was in '98 for speeding in FL.

The dumbest I've been written was in '94 or '95...I can't remember exactly. I was still in high school, but had a side job working for a children's theatre group. It was really just for the experience of working as a stage manager for them as they toured around. Anyway, I was on my way into Milwaukee for a rehearsal when I realized that I had forgotten my script book. I turned around, on the freeway, in one of those 'emergency vehicles only' crossings. I told the cop I only did it because I was in fear for my job, so I was in a hurry. So he made sure to make the process take as long as he could to teach me a lesson.

When the ticket came in the mail my mom couldn't stop laughing. She said she'd never known anybody to actually try that.

Since that day I've driven 40 miles out of my way, in the middle of nowhere, to avoid another illegal u-turn on the freeway. I'm pretty sure I could have gotten away with it, but how dumb would I feel getting a second ticket for such a thing?

I would say the stupidest ticket I got was my latest speeding ticket...90 in a 65...Stupid in the sense that I really should not have been going that fast, but when you are on an empty highway at 11am it is easy to lose track of how fast your are going...especially in my car...

My stupidest ticket might not top the ticket for not stopping long enough, but it's a close second...

I received a parking ticket for parking on the line of a Wal-Mart parking space (from a real cop I might add)

Me and the Teg got nailed for 100 in a 65 yep 35 over, and that was after my radar detector had gone off and I had slowed down....and he was all like I got it still on the radar if you want to challenge. Ended up costing me 345 after all was said and done cause I took the driving class to at least keeps the points off.

lamest:

parked at a PUBLIC parking zone for people at the lake.
there are probably 100 cars all over, and 25 cops all around

i went to the water, proceeded to drink beverages and then got a ride home in a boat, and went back to get the car in the morning.

i had a ticket on my window for NO FRONT LICENCE PLATE . cost me 85$

i park there to avoid a DUI and i get ramified.
GO CHP!

Illegal use of a left turn signal for being stopped in the turn lane at a red light with it flashing. It was morning rush hour and this guy wasn't paying attention and hit me at this red-light. He got no ticket, and claimed I had cut him off and stopped suddenly. Well, no **** it was a red light, and I was in the lane for at least 1/2 mile, but the cops did now know that sadly. I went to court and even the judge said "you got a ticket for being hit from behind at a red light?!"

my best time, "Chris don't speed or you will be latter for the game, as I ran out the door to my car for my second football game. Well, how many of you LISTEN to your parents? I have no front plate (3 point offense in NH) washer nozzle lights (1 point offense) and I am sure I was braking the noise law too (I don't know how many points, its new in my community) and was going 85 in a 50 winddy road. I flew by the cop, and before he could get a lock was past him ( he was hidden in a hunting area park) I think he took a minute to go "nah, he wasn't going that fast" then he pulled out. I was already down to the speed limit and just driving normal. He folled me to where it turned to a 30 and then pulled me over. "do you know how fast you where going?"
"yes, 55"
"what? really, are you sure?"
"yes, well 55 when I saw you 50 after"
ÿa I know that part"
"hmm..."
(he looks around my car)
"where are you going so fast?"
"I wasn't I was going 55 and to a foot ball game I am playing in."
"really, oh, you guys are having a good season."
"thanks"
"well...hold on"
(goes back to his car, comes back 5 minutes latter)
"ok be good, and good luck."
man did I luck out!

Okay, I think I have ALL of you beat, though I didnt get a ticket.
The week of me not having a car between the old Cadillac and the svx, I had to ride my bike into work. No big deal really, good excercise and great weather that week. One morning I was riding near a park, and saw a cop pull a quick U turn at the park's entrance.I didnt think anything of it till he called me over.
"Um..hi, what seems to be the problem officer?"
"Please step off the bike"
He proceeded to ask me where I was going, if I had my licence(Course I dont have my licence with me, Im on a bike) who I was where I lived, If I was carrying any deadly weapons or illegal substances (because every AK-47 toting drug baron rides a bike) Hell, he even patted me down!He also asked how long I lived in town. I havent the slightest clue as to WHY that would matter. I figure either they were looking for someone in particular, or that was one bored ass cop. Good news though.. I STILL made it to work early. probly better he DID pull me over, I woulda been bored waiting for the shop to open, and now I have a fnny story to tell.
I know that AvPPoW happens to have a few funny tickets, mabey we can rouse him to posting them stories too. lol

Well, cops like old beat up BMWs, they reaaaaally like them, I was pulled over 4 times in a month and I think 8 times over those 6 months while I was driving these cars, all total BS, I would see a cop pick me out and try to find some stupid reason to pull me over, my favorite though wa1s that I pulled up to a stop sign too slowly, huh? Yup, I pulled up too slowly... WTF it that all about?

Eric- Perhaps the cops thought you are a regular bicycle rider, arround here they violate every law except the speed limit and get away with it, if I drove like that I'd loose my lisence in 2 weeks
