Major SVX international meet

Next week in Peterborough in England we are having a very international meet for SVX owners.

The event is the Japanese Auto Extravaganza or JAE show. We used the same event last year in England with success, and the show is not really a ricer event, it has every type of Japanese classic you could think of, plus the cars with the testosterone implants of course.

We will have owners from Ireland, England and Scotland at this one. Plus we are expecting visitors from continental Europe! We also should have visitors from two other continents, making this probably the most International SVX event ever!!!

Expect some photos when the event happens next week, 22,23,24 July. If there are any Japanese Subaru guys at the meet, we will rope them in for the photos as well.

We'll keep you posted as it happens.

Joe

That sounds great. A world SVX meet would be fun, but a little hard for every one to drive to.

Earl,

When they finish the Berring Straight bridge we should organize a worldwide SVX Meet (Asian, Euro, & NA SVXes) somewhere in Russia. I hear Vladavistock is nice in the summer.
The only real problem will be to get the SVXers from Austrailia & NZ to the meet.

I have to call Ron for adice on which wine is appropriate with Yak (red, white, or gray). And I wonder if canoli can be served as desert for musk ox.

Yellow ??

Joe

You didn't mention the fact that we are supposedly getting a Yellow SVX to appear this year. It might spark some interest from Randy to get over for the meet.........

Phil.

Glad youse are sensible enough to wait for a bridge.

I was about to say to Earl that seawater does a lot of rust damage!

Shhhhh...

Say nothing Phil. If he hears about the yellow one, he won't even look at the photos.

Pics are up

Well guys and girls there are some pics from this meet up now, in the European section and in some Personal Lockers (mine included).

The meet went well, we had a total of 13 cars, although "only" 12 at a time on the stand. A selection of UK and JDM models were represented, including a rare Subaru anniversary edition, and for Randy's benifit, a bright yellow one !! Two cars had been converted to 5 speed manual, and Graham's Supercharged car was present and operational.

The weather closed in on Sunday from about midday, but hopefully it didn't spoil it for anyone.

Hope you like the pics.

Phil.

Thumbs up

Actually wine is rarely served with Yak. I recommend slugging down as much Moskovskaya Vodka as humanly possible before attacking a yak cutlet, which I've heard is the consistancy of a Michelin truck tire, but not as tasty.

Canoli is acceptable with musk ox. The wine? Box o' Musk-atel, of course.

Thanks for asking.

Ron.

Thanks Ron, thanks Larry.

We had no Yak this trip, though a lot of yakking got done. We did manage a few ox sandwiches, and as for Tire Tiramisu, we kicked quite a few and then declined to chew.

Not much wine imbibed, it was a beer event really. However, thanks to Brett from Wales we did guzzle some exquisite Welsh vodka called Brecon Vodka. I kid you not, Welsh Vodka . They must have nearly as many Russians in Wales these days as we have here in Ireland, including in the distilleries. It was magic stuff. And we had some Speyside malt from John in Scotland and 25 year old Highland Park from the Orkneys from Phil and Angie.

Quite an event. I don't think one meeting a year is enough any more, really. Maybe a Welsh meeting and an Irish meeting and a Scottish meeting in between [I almost said Scotch meeting ]. And I'll have to bring a Box'o'Midleton Very Rare to keep pace with the Hills.

Yessss!!!!!
