You gotta see my new rubbers.
I have truck tires on.
Well I decided to get winter tires put on the X seeing as I'm not going to drive it til then. Went to the big shot Johnsons and this guy is like "we only have one tire that will fit" and it was an all season. Looked ok. But I told the guy I WANT A DEDICATED WINTER TIRE. Anyways the total came to like over $800 including an alignment. F that. I went to Sears. Cute girl I recognized from high school checked me out there and also helped with tire selection. I settled on some Blizzaks, because I recognize the name and people have great experience with them. She (they) could not find OEM size. They only had 3. I needed 4. So she goes out and takes a look at things Eventually we settle on a 215-65-Q16. THEY LOOK FUNNY. And it indeed impacted accelleration. Much teh slowAr. But they are snow tires. I wasn't exactly trying to set an speed records if you know what I mean. The warranty would be voided if I screwed them up on pavement. So Sears hooked those up for some $553.87 WITH alignment. I noticed I was drifting to the right ever so slightly even on these crappy roads. Camber and toe were in fact off ever so slighlty. Learned something about my old tires. First and foremost they were H RATED. That is like, way crappy and I can't believe I went 140 with them back in 03, and raced them, and drove without sufficient tread. The Blizzaks are actually quiet compared to them, and make a cool WOOOoooooohhhh sound when you slow down :D The ride is also way comfy. I'll get pics up tomorrow. They are worth it.

Looks like I'm going back. Funny how it takes a picture to notice these things.

so those look like the textured version... did you look into the flavored ones??
nice choice, and decent price too. the narrower tire will help in snow anyway.

Have them on the wifes LOB, and they are worth the money, also wear pretty good, they got left on the car til late (and I mean late) spring which meant lots o' dry pavement driving and they held up well, will get at least another winter out of them (had them on for a couple o years already)
I'm considering putting them on my stock rims when I get rubber for the rims I bought from sxewhodey (most likely be going with Avons for these) Guess I got a little time to worry bout' winter rubber though, so will look at a couple of other dedicated shoes as well.

Whoo they rushed me in and got me through in about 10 minutes.

Compared to what I had, I am definitely impressed with them, even on dry road. It isn't what's making me slower though. Realized I had a full tank of gas and the trunk loaded with emergency carp.

Whats up with tire places putting the back ones on backwards?
U think johnsons tire service would switch them for me? (previous owner had the tires put on by them)

If the tires aren't directional you might as well swap them yourself.

the f d up thing is the tires are directional (i got a set). they have a big arrow pointing on the side wall. as for winter tires in ak they rock. i had and still have them on now.(waiting for hydroedges on order). they are hella soft rubber. running them on the dry pavement they will be gone before winter hits. i had never got stuck or near stuck with the awd and the blizzys. its cool at -50 you can still depress the rubber with your finger. all others are rock hard and lobsided when vehicle is sitting for more than a hour.

Those Blizzaks are exteremly soft. Friend has a pair of them on his car.. How come you went studless?
I have Nokian WRs (studless too), they arn't nearly as soft, in fact i think they are hard... But they seem to work just as well. Yeah i tried earlier to just switch the rims, I jacked up the car and THEN remembered the tires are directional.

I don't see studs having any use on these Blizzaks, but I'm not a studded tire kinda person in general.

I had the Dunlop SP5000 A/S before and didn't care for the tire wear, and they seemed a bit easy to suffer damage from potholes. However they did handle/drive nice without much noise.
