Y'all are making me feel very, very lucky. The only unpleasant surprise I've had thusfar was when the crank pulley started coming apart.

(I'd better shut-up.)

Is the conversion done yet?

I've had to replace:
- Transmission
- Suspension
- Stereo (well...didn't HAVE to but...)
- Engine temp sensor
- Sleeve lock regulator

(this does not include accidents)

Well I've been doing OK, but considering I paid 13K for the car in 2000 with 75K on it I better have gotten a good one. The front diff blew with one payment left. The first 5 speed swap cost me a total of $200 for pedals and driveshaft mods. After I blew 5th gear out of the first 5speed someone who owed me money paid $650 to get me another 5 speed. About a year later that 5 speed started grinding going into 2nd gear. So I spent the big bucks and got the six speed. Other than that I replaced the struts, timing belt, hoses, and knock sensors at 100K. About 20K later I replaced the replaced stock struts with Koni/ groundcontrols and at about 130K I blew the motor at the "Reading Incident".

All in all with the exception of the conversion to 5 speed and the NOS thing, I've only had to "Mantiane" The normal stuff. No broken window stuff, no failing hood struts, and ..................Well I did do the wheelk bearings ut who hasn't

I guess I just beat the crap out of it and it treats me fairly.

Well I figured that after setting the record for longest transmission swap you would finally finish it.

after 2 days and 74 miles of buying mine. the tranny went bad. after sitting for 2 months I got the 5-speed installed. during the test drive after getting the 5-speed in the crank pully walked back into the timing cover. broke my A/C belt. replaced crank pulley, a/c and alternator belts, and timing cover. I was lucky it didn't get the timing belt as well. I Now need to replace my driveline and throttle position sensor. I've put on a about a total of 300 miles since getting the car.

I'm not sure if I'd call it "luck" but...

Like a few others, shortly after the purchase of my SVX the tranny went out. I'm still not sure if it was related to a power flush done on the ATF system about a month before it went out or if it was just due for replacement.

I had the transmission completely rebuilt w/ new cluth & solenoid packs along w/ a new tourqe converter. Total bill for removal, rebuilding and installation was $3000. I bargained my way into getting a 5 year / 50K mile warranty on the tranny too. ....then I wrecked the car.

Since then I have purchased a second SVX.

All expenses accounted for, I've invested over $13K in these beautiful cars and I now have one good SVX (complete & driving daily) and a spare set of parts (minus the frame and left front suspension peices).
