Hit and Run

Why must people be so incredibly inconsiderate?

I drove up to a friend's apartment in Michigan this weekend. I left my car there and we drove across the state to visit some other friends. I got back yesterday afternoon and find that someone has hit my car!
No note, no contact info, just a nice dent. It was obviously done by someone in a truck or SUV. The dent is the drivers front fender and hood. The headlight is slightly cracked as well.

This really ticks me off. My car had no dents other than some door dings. Now there is a big one that isn't enough to go through insurance and I don't want to pony up the cash to pay for it.

Pics to come...

Bummer. Good luck with the repairs. Too bad the perp didn't have the character to leave a note with contact info.

One of my biggest reservations about driving my SVX daily is that some dolt in an Excursion or Hummer will back into me (or over me) in a parking lot.

bastages... seriously thats bull****. sorry Collin. so, fender, hood, light.. no bumper damage? seems like a fair amount of damage to not go through insurance. shouldn't make it go up should it? seeing as how its a hit and run... did you file a police report?

I'd talk to the insurance agent, and at least see what they say about what would happen if you filed it. that really does suck.

I would honestly rather live with the dent than pay the deductable right now. I just can't afford it.

If you need a new headlight, that's proably half of your deductable. If anything needs to be painted, that's the other half. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I know from experience don't let the little bumps build up.

I work at a store in a busy area. Cars are always coming in and out and getting in and out of parking spots. Shopping carts always goin around. I park my car in the back of the store where no one is...of course i have to walk all the way around but i feel alot safer that way.
