Rattling Noise From Engine at Low Rpms.

First off I want to say that no cel is on, but the car seems to be making this wierd ratlling noise when I slightly press on the gas,(1000-1700rpm) Although it never makes this noise when it idles.

I just bought this car and my knowledge is limited, just wondering if anyone else had this same sympton.

Also, when I turn hard, for example, when I turn out a parking spot I hear light clicks from the front left wheel. Is it possible that my axle or bearing could be going out soon???

Sounds like your CV joint is going bad for that wheel. I would look into getting the axle replaced. As for the rattling noise...you sure its not coming from under the car?

sounds

I had a similar sound. I found it to be one of the many heat shields of the exhaust. I still have it only to the sound of a better exhaust but I still have a stock on. I have the dam emission check.

Sounds like loose exhaust heat shields and a bad axle.

I also agree on the heatshields and cv joint. While you're at it replace both front axles as the other one will be soon to fail. Look into remanufactured axles as a set will cost less than a single axle from any Subaru dealership.

If it sounds like buzzing kinda rattle/thing, I have the same issue on my 96'. It is not the CV joints and I pulled and tugged on every heat shild I could find. If you ever figure it out, PLEASE let me know.

sound

I had the same problem. when in park it would not make that sound. it only would do it when in gear. I turned more heads with the sound . With my it mad my exhaust sound like a better one. but I have emission test where my car is plated (DE). Its not as load as it started but I like the sound. I don't have any hole in the pipe. I had it tested for safety.

It is the heat shield when you are driving hold the RMP at exactly 2,000 you will feel it right under the left foot. I had to put the car on a lift and run it at 2,000 to find it Ok your under the car (I was standing up so you will have to fig. out were if you are laying down ) I was facing the front just infront of the CAT. On the left side there is a thin bracker holding the heat shield I have welded it twice in the past 6 years. Maybe I can snag a picture hold on. This is embarassing I took 8 shots under the car and I can't see the weld in any of them.

Thank You

Thanks guys, good, this wont be a real expensive fix. Um Also I had one other question. My radiator has a small hole in the plastic intake. I currently just patched it up, yet I know the rule with radiators(another leak will come soon).

Um where would be the cheapest and best place to get a radiator for it????

I actually had the heat sheild deal things happen, cheap to fix no problem. the clicking noise yeah...I'd have to go with CV joint too and maybe cheack your bearings and grease packing in that wheel. how many miles ya got on her?
