Open up an empty word doc and paste the screen shot. This will make it visible. At that time I think you can right click it and do a "save as". Once that is done you can manipulate it in an image editor. That is one way to do it at least. My experience is that the quality of the pic from the word doc will not be that good. If you have FrontPage or Dreamweaver you can open up a blank page and paste your screen shot in there instead of a word doc. This makes for much better image quality. "Save image as" and manipulate form there. Hope it helps.

It is FAR better to paste it into "paint" or similar , and not into word or something (then u get those .DOC files).

Did u know that u could use the XP's viewer to change the "size" or "resolution" also ?

When u save the pic in paint, use ".JPG" format, then u can right click on the pic and choose "Resize pictures" to create a suitable format

I am pretty sure I tried pasting directly into Paint in the past and could never do it. That is why I turned to using Word or FP. I will have to try again as I may be losing my mind.

I'd post a pic of my desk top but a black rectangle is not exciting to look at. When I get around to building a faster PC I will do some tweaking to the desktop, until then I run no color or wallpaper. Makes a huge difference in performance. When I had my linux box here at work I had that all pimped out and trick.

For a fun time at work...

1) Wait until a co-worker leaves his workstation unlocked when away from the desk and take a screen shot of his/her empty desktop.

2) Make that screenshot the background wallpaper.

3) Go into desktop properties and tell it to hide icons on the desktop. This will still show icons from your screenshot but they will not really exist.

4) Sit back and let the hillarity ensue as your coworker, on his/her return, is unable to figure out why they are unable to fire up their programs from the desktop.

The reason I find anything on my desktop is that I have recently removed some 50 icons ....

Neat trick Johnny , another neat trick to your friends or coworkers, is to when they leave the computer, terminate all programs running and call up the taskmanager and kill the "explorer" task, then close the taskmanager ...
