Ha ha! You know what the best part is...when I got my car for $6900, the dealer threw in a 24 month/24,000 miles extended warranty with a deductible of just $100 worth $2500!!! It covers everything from the engine to suspension components to transmission!

Time to go carve some more roads!

Re: Re: SVX - Canyon Carver!

Damn! That was an awesome write-up. Never knew an SVX could keep up with that kinda company. I checked out the pics in your locker, and your Ebony '94 LSi looks sweet! Thanks for the link!

I'll see if you're right Andy - I switched my wheels around when I painted my calipers today!

You know they probably were, but the previous owner had the wheels on wacky when I bought it. When I took the wheels off today, I noticed RF, LF, RR, LR written on the inside of each rim. I realized they must have been balanced for those specific locations and switched them around to their correct locations.

The AWD system doesn't seem to be affected in any way, but I did notice some vibration under hard braking over the last two weeks. Glad I corrected the problem sooner rather than later...

-Chike

P.S. One +ve is that when I weighed my stock rims w/ tires today, the two front ones both weighed in at exactly 47.5lbs! I didn't bother weigh the rears, as it was getting repetitive seeing the same number come up on the digital scale. Hopefully, the fact that the tires were all the same weight would cause no ill-effects to my AWD system down the road! Knock-on-wood!!!

Bill,

When I was painting my calipers today, I really inspected the stock bushings and they suck! They were so soft that even my fingers could squish them a little... I definitely will be switching to the urethane bushings this summer!

Those twisty roads just keep calling my name!

Chike,
What I meant was that you might have a problem now if when you swapped the wheel/tire combinations around to make it so the wheels were all rotating in the "right" direction it resulted in tires now rotating in a direction opposite to what they're supposed to be. It's an easy check - just look at the sidewall of the tires and see if they have an indicated rotational direction (and that it corresponds to the forward direction for your car! ) Unless the previous owner went to one of those high buck shops and had the tires balanced on the car, the wheel/tire combinations' balancing is independent of their location on the car.

I checked. The arrows are now going in the right direction. I guess the previous owner F***** up the car when he had the wheels on wacky, and I probably made it worse by putting all the wheels on backwards! Luckily I never took the car up to a very high speed - most of my canyon carving was done at 40-65 mph.

Thnks Bill!

With your tyres on the right way too, you should get the time easily. (Make sure you give the tyres a few 100 miles to break in.)

I'll definitely give the tires some time to get adjusted to my tinkering... However, those stock bushings must go!!!
