Quick help, radar install, which wire on cig lighter?
Hey guys, i'm hard-wiring my radar, so there's no plugs.
Which wire coming off the cig. lighter do i use for the power? There's a black (which i assume is ground), a solid red, and a red w/ green stripe. I've tried both the reds in numerous spots (before/after the white clip), and none have worked. I dont have a voltmeter (sorry  ), so i cant measure which wire carries the 12v power.Any quick help please?? Edit: OR is there another wire that I could tap in to? Needs to be switched and 12v.

VALENTINE ONE!
I know they're expensive. But, just in case you'd rather buy a primo (OK, yes, it's expensive) detector, instead of paying for speeding tickets, you have to get a Valentine One!
Like the ad says (from Car and Driver review of unit): "Once you live with the arrows, you'll wonder how you ever managed without them!" It saved me 3 times this week, city AND country!  P.S. $400. You can program out "useless" bands, like I take out X in my area (not police, just shopping centers, etc.). Arrows show position of radar (front, side or rear!) P.P.S. I do miss the sexy ladies voice on my cobra detector, tho! "Be careful! . . . Ka band radar!"

The green wire with the red stripe is the 12V switched power lead. You can access it from behind the snap off panel on the driver's side of the console (The same panel you use to get to the antenna wires)

Mine is windshield mounted and hard-wired. I have never installed the remote display which I intend to mount on dash by trouble lites >> someday, if I can get the BEAST running OK!

Titanium "radiation space shield" windshield
I don't know how much our windshield blocks. But when I found out about this issue on this website, I thought it explained why my V One was not apparently picking up Ka band radar at the purported 1 1/2 mile distance. However, it is better than my Cobra (miss the sexy female voice!), but didn't test against the Passport 8500 when I had (tested, returned) it. [If you're serious about getting one or the other, I suggest purchasing both. You can mount both temporarily with cigarette plug (may need splitter>>cheap), then use for almost 30 days, before returning (full refund most retail) the one you don't like as well!]
They're right, I LOVE THE ARROWS!!! P.S. I should say this V1 has "saved me" at least 10 times in the last 2 to 3 months!
