Already not likin NJ

Ok I offically am not liking having to move to NJ. I just spent 3 days trying to find a place to rent. It isnt good when you finally deside to go to a realitor and tell them your looking for a year round rental, only to have them appologize for laughing at you. The 2nd day I was there the car in front of me kicks up a rock and chips my windshield. "No big deal, I'll just stop by a glass place tomarrow and get the chip fixed." I think. The next day I get in to the car start it up. About the time the engine goes to an idial and I put the SVX in Reverse, I hear a loud crack. I look up and my small (less then a dime) chip is now a 18in crack. Just in time for the Maryland Crap meet, how convenont. Call the insurance, I got no deductable(thank god for thinking ahead). Call the auto glass place. I'll just get it fixed before the meet. HAAAAAH ya right., Sorry we have to special order it. We might be able to get it in by Wednesday. Uuuuuuugh. Get back to Delaware, Hmmmmmm, Tranny seems like its clunking when a let off the gas??? Could it be the dreaded SVX-Tranny Curse??? God I hope not. I only had the thing 2 months. Just Shot me now!!

Anyone got a moped they can sell me cheap( free would be nice)

Sorry about your experiences. I always thought most of Jersey was very pretty and could see why they call it the Garden State (the turnpike area around NYC sucked tho). That said, I try never to go north of Daytona between the big holidays from September thru May, so I have no idea what it will be like compared to MD in the winter.

BTW, letting off the gas and getting a transmission clunk has been reported a a bad rear mount by others. So relax a bit, it's not as bad a pill to swallow as overhaul time.

thanx

Sorry bout that. I need to blow of a little steam. I lived in Cape May area of NJ a few years ago. And all the head ache and frustration came back in a day. The area goes from a population of 500 in the winter to 500,000 in the summer. I can bike the 8 miles to and from work faster then I can drive it. After 1 day in town I was alraedy wanting to start killing tourist. And the busiest part of the season is over. Thank goddness I aint movin perminitly until Mid Sept.

Thanks for the info about the mount. I'll look into and opr thats it. I cant afford to lose the tranny with a move coming up. I'm feelin better now though.

NJ

Sorry to hear about your bad luck, but I hardly think its from being in NJ. The rock thing could hapen anywhere and no matter what windshield place you call, no one stocks the SVX windshield, its a dealer only item. Anyway, I welcome you to NJ, I've lived here all my life and I would move out in a second if I didn't have family/responsibilities here. Down the shore is a nice place to be. Are you moving here for good? Where at? If you need help with anything feel free to mail me at:

Mike,

Sorry about your NJ experience.

Here are some little known facts about the "Garden State.":

The state bird is the misquito
The state super hero is none other than the "Toxic Avenger" (rent the movie).

New Yorkers and Philadelphians disagree & fight about everything, except one thing: "They should never let people from NJ drive in their respective cities."

When I die and am sent to hell, my punishment will be to drive the NJ Turnpike from end to end for infinity.

I'd have to say Connecticut is worse for bugs...

And New York drivers are worse than New Jersey drivers.

We do have a lot of bad drivers and so far none have hit my car when parked.

(I do double park all the way in the back of parking lots though)

And always remember, A good following distance is an opportunity for someone else to get in front of you...

Also if asked where you live, if you dont give a NJTP exit number as a location, its either Philly, or NYC, noone else lives in NJ... according to them.

New York and Jersey drivers pretty good drivers i think. I've had the worst experiences with pennsylvania drivers, they're horrible! Slow as hell and are WAY too courteous, i've found the farther south you go the worse it gets. But overall jersey and new york are the best states.

Jersey drivers suck on sunday, it is like ol' people day...they need their telephone books to see over the yacht steering wheels of their ol' Cadi's. Jersey drivers aren't too bad, try driving in time square if you want to see some fur fly

I am a pessimistic optimistic. I think the worst is going to happen, that way when it does, i don't feel as bad, but if the best happens, i am twice as happy.

Kelli,

If you think driving in Times Square is tough, try walking across TS some time.

As a teenager I won a bet by walking diagonally across TS against the lights.

My uncle had a newstand on 42nd St. about 50 feet west of 7th Ave. I sent many Saturdays there, 'working the stand'.
