tranny on EBay ??

There's a tranny currently on EBay in FLA. I was thinking of bidding and having a spare.

However, take a look at it and see if you are worried like me...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33727

It's been a while since I changed the axles (and before that the tranny) on my car, but I could swear there were axle stubs that should be coming out of the case that I can't see in the EBay photo.

Yeah, no stubs and some fresh spray paint that screams No-Way. Looks like somebody gutted it. You are correct, there should be axle stubs.

Thumbs up Immortal

thanks, not just for the warning, but for confirming (partially at least) that my memory hasn't totally gone.

I had to walk out to the garage to check the dead svx tranny out there to confirm my own memory.

You dont have to have the halfshafts in the trans to in order
for it to be good. You can use your old ones.
The half shafts arent part of the internals at all.

one thing to remember

just because it has 51k miles on it doesnt mean its
in perfect or even good condition inside.
Ive seen OE trannys go with 50-60k miles on them
for whatever reason......

hey,
isn't that the same one that sold on E-bay about a month ago? I'm sure it is (same spray paint on bottom front), but under a different sellers name.
Makes me wonder why it's being sold again so soon.
If your serious about bidding on it, I would ask the seller some pointed questions first.

re: at the mechanic's now

i'm at the mechanic's now and using his internet as he is test driving my new baby. i showed him a picture and he said, don't touch it, looks like whoever removed it didn't know how to properly remove one. good luck.

This one is missing the splines that the half shafts connect to

the half shafts just slide out......doesnt take that much
to remove them, so doubt the could of hurt anything.
I dis agree
