OEM tire change
Anyone out there recall when/why they went from a OEM tire size 225/50-16 to a 205/55-16? Was it rear wheel bearing related?
I once had a set of 215/55-16's on for a year and they seemed to give me a little extra clearance (we have a very steep slope on the crown of the driveway) but didn't seem to make any difference from a handling/noise perspective. Went back to the 225's (Eagle RSA) and they are wearing nice & even, are pretty quiet and seem to work well dry, in the wet or snow.

At Reading, Harry (newsvx) mentioned an explanation that he had heard. Allegedly the tire manufacturer could not supply the 225/50 tires that year???
Also, this is the first time I heard that the wheels were also narrower (7 vs. 7.5") on the 97. Matt
