Legacy R30 Spark Plugs

Hey all... my daily driver is an 02 Legacy R30 wagon.. great car too.

Anyhoo; it's in for a service (140K Kms) and I enquired about having the plugs done. The factory units are an Iridium [spelling?] plug and bloody expensive!! I was quoted $65 NZD each!! plus abt 1.5hrs labour to fit.

My question, what's the difference between platinum and iridium plugs, any pros/cons? Is it a simple enough job that I could DIY??

Cheers

Iridium is what I use in the SVX and that sounds about right as far as price goes for them. I would stick with Platinum if you wish, I don't think it makes a ton of difference but I could be wrong. As far as DIY, I don't see why a legacy would be much more difficult than an svx. I would attempt to do it myself.

Re: Legacy R30 Spark Plugs

What kind of engine does that have? Sorry- I couldn't find that info in my own research. Is it an EJ25 4 cyl, EZ30 6 cyl, or ??? I changed the spark plugs on my US 04 Legacy L wagon with the EJ25 a few months ago and it was quite easy- much more so than on an SVX.

Yeah its the sports version of the EZ30 6 cyl. I'm going to have a look at it this weekend; maybe see how good the access is...
