The suspense must be killing you...

...or it would have, if I had told you what I was doing.

My father-in-law came to visit us this weekend. Cold or no cold, he was bound and determined to help me with my car chores. On Amber's Legacy, we replaced the front rotors and pads and did an oil change. That was Saturday.

Sunday was the real fun. We tacked the brake band adjustment on the SVX. I think that it ranks as the second most annoying thing I've had to do on the car.

Anyway, it works. My car found second gear for the first time in probably a month. We did a 3/4 turn adjustment on the car, but I think this week I'll do another 3/4 turn. At low throttle everything works pretty well (1-2 slides a little), but with a heavier foot I get a little flaring.

Still, it's way better than it was.

I'll post more detail in the Tech forum. The point for this forum was that I'm just so friggin' excited to see the car shift through all four gear consistently.

Congrats!

Glad to hear its on its way back from the dead. I think you hold the record for the most times pulling a tranny back out of the depths of tranny hell.

BAND ADJUSTMENT.

Good job done Nick, now if we can get the others with 2nd 4th trouble to do the band adjustment, we may see less transmission trouble, that is really caused by lack of servicing.

I really can't understand why this is not carried out by the dealer at a regular mileage, like any other adjustment to keep the transmission operating.

Its like letting the brake pads wear down to the backing, then, complaining that the disks are no good because they wear out too quick.

Harvey.

Great job! Glad to hear you fixed it with nothing more than a little sweat and time

I'd love to see some sort of howto doc so the rest of us can try it if we need to do it

I'll try to do that. Since I want to fiddle with it a little more, I'll have the opportunity shortly...
