3.90 LDS direct swap donors?

I am wondering if there is a direct rear diff swap to run a 3.90 without changing rear axles or the carrier.

04 STi ?

I just spent so much time (and money) getting the SVX rear diff to work in my car (not just the diff...everything from the SVX....everything) and initially did a 3.90 r&p swap. Now I need a new rear diff and really don't want to buy another set of axles on top of it........

any sugested donors?

Not sure I understand what you are saying here, but if you have a stock SVX rear diff... then you've got it.

I imagine you are looking to match it to a 3.9 front diff out of a WRX... which has a 1.1 center diff... which effectivly makes your rear diff 3.9

In progess: track down mystery noise <-identified, paint the new dash, get better pic
Spring plans: Replace Trans - Integrate ECU with the carputer - Suspension - Go back to STI Filter - Paint? Maybe not - Next Oil change: Purolator L30165

I need a 3.90 rear diff that uses the SVX axles...I'm trying to find out what donor cars are compatible. Are you saying the SVX HAS a 3.90? I thought they had a 3.54 or something obscure like that annnnnd the LSD in my SVX carrier is shot anyways and there is no rebuild kit available from Subaru.

center diff 1.1 X 3.54 = 3.9 final drive

I know that.

I have a EG33 swapped Impreza that has a 3.90 front diff....a 1:1 center diff and currently has a 3.90 rear diff. The carrier I currently have is from an SVX with a ring and pinion swap (to a 3.90). I need to replace the LSD and would rather just find a 3.90 LSD that I can just slide the SVX axles into.

BTW, not all WRX trannys havs the 1:1.1 center diffs....found out the hard way

I don't believe that any other Subie rear diff will work with the SVX axles...but you should be able to find a 1st Gen Turbo Legacy rear diff and axles to use....they ran 3.90's

I haven't done it myself, but pretty sure people have used RS LSD rear diffs and axles in the SVX during a 5 speed swap, so I'm pretty sure all the new gen Subies share the same outer CV joint...

But you should have your old Impreza ones laying around, so see if one will fit in the hub, if it does, then the Legacy one should fit too.
