Hose Identification

I broke two hoses yesterday when I was pulling the throttle body off so I could clean the IACV. Here is a picture of an engine and I have drawn in arrows to the hoses I broke:

Can someone please help with with identification of the hoses so I can get new ones from Subaru. They both connect down under the intake manifold, one I can get to without too much trouble but the other I may have to remove the manifold to get too.

Speaking of which, is there anything I need to watch out for in removing the intake manifold?

Not sure, but why don't you just print the picture and take it with you to the stealership and show them?

I already called them and he assured me that he would not have it in stock so I'm trying to save myself a trip.

I replaced one of mine on the other side with some generic hose from Autozone. Take a piece in so they can match the size and let them know that it is for your PCV system.

Does PCV stand for Positive Crankcase Ventilation? These hoses are shaped, I would think a non shaped hose may get in the way of something.

Also, one of them is very hard to get to and it looks like I'm going to have to remove the intake manifold, anyone have information on this? Thanks.

If you want to stick with the proper Subaru parts, go to www.SubaruParts.com

You'll have to register if you haven't yet, Pick SVX -> year -> Engine and then look around in "Emissions PCV" and "Intake Manifold System" If you add the item to your cart it will give you the Subaru part number for it.

With the numbers, you can check with your local dealer, also check with Liberty Subaru in NJ, their pricing is about the same and and they charge actual shipping. Call and ask for their "car and driver" pricing.

I just went down in the basement to take a look, the one that connect to the top of the TB shouldn't be too bad to get to with from the rear, with a set of long needle nose pliers, the other one does have agood bend in it where it connects to a valve under the intake, you can maybe reach it by removing the alternator and going in from the front.

Or depending on the break, find a hose that has an ID that will fit tightly over the OD of the old hose and splice it for now.

If you are going to remove the intake, make a real project out of it and plan on replacing all of those hoses while your in there.

I just found this thread and realized that I don't want to remove the intake manifold. I guess I will go to the parts store and get some hose for the PCV system and try to replace the cracked hoses.

Either that or repair the old hoses with duct tape until I have a better reason to remove the intake manifold.
