To remove or to leave on?

I have a decal over my bottom 2 defrosters on my back window, which used to not bother me but, now i've come to hate it...

Sooo, has any had any experience with the defrosters on the back windshield? Sadly the decal is on the inside and if i remove it more than likely the two defrosters it is covering will be damaged. I know i've seen other cars where when one defroster is out two others halfway up the window are thrown out cause they were connected somehow.

So, should i suck it up and leave it there in order to preserve the defroster...
Or, should i get rid of the ugly thing and make myself happy?

Jen

I have removed decals from my back windshield twice with no problems. I dont think you will do any harm....just get a scraper and scrape in between the lines.

use adhesive remover, it shouldn't damage the defrosters(anyone know otherwise?).

Significant Technical Input
You might try first softenting the decals with a hairdryer before removing. Also, use a wood or plastic scraper, a metal one will surely increase the risk of damage. In case you do damage a line or two your local parts store will certainly have a defroster grid repair kit available.

You have the car because it makes you happy so I say take it, the hair dryer trick should work well

WD-40, Avon skin so soft, & goo-gone are all safe adhesive removers. Along with the hair dryer you should be safe, just don't muck up your carpet with it.

Decal

Hi Jen, If it is in fact a "DECAL" you should be able to rewet it by holding a wet sponge on it for a few mintues till the glue softens and the decal comes off. Then use a damp paper towel to remove the remaining glue on the glass. Take care, BOBB

I would say remove it if you don't like it. Use the suggestions mentioned above. I was going to suggest a heat gun, but a hair dryer works too. Good luck and let us know how you do.

if its a decal there ill most likely be clear plastic around it and it will come off fairly easily with water, if its adhesive vinyl use a hairdryer and a wooden or plastic scraper to remove it then goo gone or d-40 to remove the residual adhesive

I ended up taking it off, but right in the beginning when i pulled one piece off it damaged the defroster, so i basically said, forget it and just scraped it off without worrying about the defrosters. I just dropped my car off tonight at the mechanic to get her tranny mount replaced but when she comes back i'll have to take a few pics of her new decal-less look!
