Where to buy transmissions?

Where have most of the members got their trannys? I have searched on car-part.com and emailed with no responses. What prices has anyone paid and condition mileage etc? Any info is much appreciated

I found car-part's e-mail system to suck, but their track record on the yard having the part at the price quoted is pretty good - they usually list a telephone number - call.

Everytime I've posted about www.car-part.com (which I've been doing for about 6 years now) I've said DON'T EMAIL them as how many JYs have you been to that has someone sitting behind a computer on a regular basis. Call them. Not only will you get help faster, you'll actually interact with a REAL person and in most cases you'll pay less than what they list it for on www.car-part.com, that is if you play your cards right.

That said, I only buy things I need that day from there. My trannys are $30 specials at most, one of them was a $1 at a pull-a-part.

If you are looking to swap in with 4.44/4.11, i would recommend you to talk(PM) to Tom[svxfiles] as he is very familiar with those trannies and conversions and offcourse he can get used trannies at a very low price.
