Bittersweet Reunion

I'm in the SVX -- not completely fixed yet -- having to run with the resistor unplugged.

900.00+ in Rental, no mention of charge for the work on the tranny --- I'm on the road again.

Full report later -- gotta get home to take my daughter out for her birthday.

Thanks for the Prayers.

There's nothing like sliding into that seat after months away.

Glad you're back together.

Sooo....

...I assume they never got around to pulling it out yesterday? I wish you had it back fixed, but I can understand just getting it back is a step forward at this point.

No, they've pulled it, fixed the internals and re-installed it. Before they pulled it, I got the flare whether the dropping resistor was plugged in or not. Now, the flare is gone when the resistor is unplugged. It shifted flawlessly all the way home tonight. They told me to call next week to find out when I can bring it back in. I'm thinking of bailing on the whole damned thing.

Anybody got a known good dropping resistor I can use for a test. If I've gone through all of this just for a dropping resistor, I'm going to be LIVID!!!

This idea could be flawed, but removing the resistor boosts the line pressure, right? Check the resistor with an Ohm meter for continuity. If it checks o.k. I'd suspect a leak inside...

Correct. Unplugging the resistor disables duty solenoid A, and feeds full line pressure to the system. They had (supposedly) checked the resistor and the tps before pulling the unit. That's when they suspected a leak and found free play in the drums, and they (supposedly) fixed that problem.

It's drivin' me nuts. Read my "full report" for a real horror story.
