Tweet, tweet

Does anyone recommend a good tweeter for the dash?
I've been looking around and not sure what would actually fit.....I believe they are 1" dia., but can they be domed? etc.
And which ones are best quality for a reasonable price?

I replaced mine with a component set from Alpine. The RS series. kinda pricey. To tell you the truth, they sound worse than the OEM set. Are your originals busted or are you upgrading the entire system?

Well, I'm going to update the doors this weekend.......I've got some pioneer 6.5's, but the passenger side tweeter is blown, so I'm thinking about upgrading the tweeters just so they both work at least.

I thought the tweeters were 3/4 inch diameter, not 1 inch.

Hey
i put in some infinity ones, 1" they fit perfectly in the stock holes..
as long as you re wire them through some sort of crossover they will sound fine. i put my crossovers in the door, everything works great.. use a coat hanger (as many others will say) to get your wires through the rubber connecting the door to frame.

The stock tweeters are 2" They use a crossover that is lower than most of the aftermarket ones, that is why good stock tweeters sound better than a lot of aftermarket ones.

I replaced mine with these: http://www.alltronics.com/speakers.htm Scroll down to the Mini Horn Tweeter #99V003.

They work awesome in the SVX. I use them in conjunction with Polk 6.5 door speakers and Polk 6X9 rears. The second SVX originally had the Polk 1" in the dash, but they sounded so bad, I changed them.

Do you use an aftermarket amplifier for this setup?

Significant Technical Input
To put together a few things a few people already said.......My recomendation would be to get a set of infinity components which come with their own crossover. Pull your own wires. You'll find yourself putting the infinity crossovers in the kick panels. It's easy as pie to drop the wires from the tweeters down to the crossovers, easy as pie to to run the wires from the crossovers in the kick panels over to the back of the head unit, and not all that difficult to run the wire from the door speakers through the rubber loom and into the kick panels.

The sound quality of infinity speakers is always excellent. That includes the rs. You don't have to throw down the money for the kappas. In fact I'm an audiophile and i have infiniti rs components in my svx. If you are using head unit power you will also find the performance of the higher response speakers better than if you paid the money for the more expensive ones.

The infinity components are always pricey if you go to your local retailer or custom audio shop; there are however, some resellers on ebay who sell them rediculously cheap.

Cool $1.95 each???

Doug,
this almost looks too good to be true...$1.95/each and they have great sound? Did you just wire them in with the stock crossover?

Yes, I just de-soldered the pigtail from the stock tweeters and soldered it to the replacement speaker.

The crossover on the replacement tweeter has a lower cutoff than the stock tweeter. I actually prefer that cutoff better, so I left it, but you could easily solder in the stock crossover if you prefer that higher cutoff.

Not yet. I am still tracing the schematic of the stock stereo to locate the proper place to add in pre-amp outs. I don't want to use speaker level outputs into an amp, it degrades the sound too much.
