Doors, making cracking noise

Does anyone has this problem besides me? When you open the door, it makes 3 loud cracking noises as it opens. I tryed to lube and oil everything out there. Does not help.

Do i have to take upart a door to solve this problem? I really don't want to.

I have the screech and groan. I just use a silicon lubricating spray and it seems to solve it. At least for a couple months until it starts again.

hhmmm............. i would say both. More on cracking noise, like something is breaking.

I've tried lubing it, haven't tryed using silicon though. Will do, thanks.

have you looked closely at the flat bar arrangement that sets door detents (stops for various openings)? Might wish to clean them off well and see if they have actual cracks which might be popping as they compress/expand at each detent. test for noise after cleaning and if the noise is gone, then relube.

That's the door checker as it's called. The door has to come apart to fix it. The checker has springs and the springs rust and the rust gets in the plastic rollers. The roller are suposed to rotate against the flat bar with the stop indents. The rust jams the rollers and this makes the cracking like something is breaking noise. If you use white lithium grease, the stuck rollers will slide over the bar better but will get flat spots sooner or later from sliding on the indent bar. I took mine apart and cleaned and lubricated the whole thing. It's a time consummmmmming job.

They still make a noise!!!!

I did everything. Took everything apart, (the spring was totally rusted, not falling upart though), I put a special, teflon lube on it, the one that I use on my bike parts, lubed the hinges, lubed the rollers, polished the door checkers, and put the lube on them.

Then reinstall everything, and they stopped squeeking, but the cracking noise did not go away. So annyoing. Well, i guess the doors are old, there is nothing you can do with it.

Sorry to hear the Crack is still there. Did you happen to notice if the rollers turned in the plastic part that holds them? Also if there is a major flat spot on the rollers, they will not rotate. Can you believe how much rust is on the spring? One of my doors still cracked for awhile after I did it, the one with a flat roller. It did go away after awhile. Then it came back after 6 months. I used some white lithium spray grease. Now it's gone again.

I get that every now and then... Dosn't bother me that much since I see my car about twice a month... I will probably go crazy with it later this year though....

Mine does that sometimes, I did a little R&D, and figured out the grommets that hold the door panel on, on the bottom were popping in and out.

May not be the same noise you have, but it's worth a look.

The rollers turn very freely, they are not flat or anything, and i stuffed them with the lithium greeze till they felt good. hehe.
But yeah, they turn good and freely. I dunno what is the problem. The spring are rusted, but i don't think that that might create a noise.

But since all you guys have this problem, I won't be that worried that much. It is just i want this car to be perfect, so every little noise is no good to me.

nik

PS. Thanks all for suggestions, and comments.
