Smile New addition to the fleet

My mom drove up this weekend and brought us the car we bought from her: a 1995 green Legacy wagon. The car only has 20k fewer miles on it than Amber's old 1990 Legacy, but it's in far better shape in every conceivable way. She'll miss the nice options her old car had, like power window and locks, but this one is a much more solid car. It has been well taken care of by both my mom and the previous owner, whereas her 1990 was flogged on a daily basis and apparently used to haul loads of ice skates dripping in battery acid. It also has dual airbags, which makes me feel a little better. And, being a Florida car all its life, it is very clean, aside from a few heat-damaged interior parts.

I have to say that the difference in halding between the '90 and the '95 is amazing - and not just because the car is in better shape mechanically. In my opinion, the steering on the '90 is way over-assisted, but the '95 has a much better weight and road feel to it. The '95 also seems to have much more room in the back seat. I'm pretty tall (6ft even), and I fit very comfortably back there with plenty of room all around.

The engine doesn't leak a bit of oil. There is literally none coming from any seal on the entire thing. I hope to keep it this way. If I see a seal weeping at all, I'll replace the sucker because it's too cool to look under the hood and see such a clean engine.

My mom's a fan of Florida's current governor, Jeb Bush, so the car had a 'Jeb!' sticker on the rear bumper. Amber peeled it off the first chance she got, but we've still already named the car 'Jeb.'

Well, uh, because it doesn't make any sense in Michigan.

Actually, that is why I would have left it. Probably would not have had it on in FL. But, I am not much on stickers of any kind. Just like the uncluttered look of things.

I know the feeling...

I can understand why you pulled the "Jeb" sticker off your car Pockets.

Down this way, it's "Jed" stickers that we avoid at all costs.

Even though Mr. Clampett WAS from Arkansas....
