What would cause the rev counter to stop working ?

What would cause the rev counter to stop working ? it just sits on 0 with the engine started .

I'm assuming the Speedo/odometer and the lights work? Are you experiencing any other electrical maladies? Have you modified the car at all?

speedo and odometer working no modificationd on the car,electrics working ok

Carl it is driven directly off the ECU, yellow wire, but is does have a separate blue/green ground wire, can't tell where that wire is grounded, may have to pull the dash out to see.
Or the meter may have died.
