new to the board
Just wanted to say hello-
I bought my first SVX on saturday. I have wanted this car since I was 11 (91) and my father traded in his subaru GL for a legacy. I saw this beast sitting in a showroom - and knew I was in love. After 13 years of lusting - I finally found one AND had the cash to buy it... This has been one of the best weeks of my life. Awesome community you guys have here - I have a feeling I'll be visiting quite a bit.... Patrick.

The car is a 92 umm ... kinda blueish green dark color... I'm sure someone will give me subarus name for it.
136k miles on the clock- rear bearings are getting loud (Gonna slap the subaru tech with the TSB on what grease to frickin' use before I hand over the keys) Good news is - rotors are flat - tranny is crisp... I paid 5k for the car... Before you tell me I paid to much keep in mind that it came with a 9k stereo that I will be pulling and selling to cover the cost of the car - and the partial cost of a five speed. I'm already obsessed with this car - I called in sick the monday after I bought it just so I could drive around all day... I've already crushed the noise suppressor ferrite bead and am quite happy with the results... (By the way, I have a theory as to what this actually does - but before I speak out and sound stupid - does anyone actually know?) This weeks modifications will include some lightwieght 18" rims and matching tires and a fiberglass grill insert that looks quite a bit like what smallcar has photoshopped (I'm currently dremeling the mold as I type this) Long term (next 6 months) I hope to see a supercharger install- some smoked clear headlight lenses and some body work to widen the car to prototype dimensions - as well as Alcyone replacement badging - cross drilled aftermarket rotors, a lower ratio 5 speed. and a functional scoop to feed that supercharger. My goal is to keep the entire project price to under 20k (Thats what I would pay for a new car - but this will be EXACTLY what I want; no car manufacturer can offer me that at the moment. Like I said, I'll probably be around a lot picking brains and posting pics. Thanks for the welcome! Patrick

Welcome to the site Patrick. What kind of work do you do in Eugene? I absolutely love your idea of buying a used SVX and putting 20 grand into it rather than buying a $25,000 car. There was a $9K stereo in your SVX? Wow, please tell me all about it because I'm fascinated with car stereo. Also, please post some pics of your car so we can all opine (or possibly make fun of your backwards wheels).
