O/T - Connection Speed

Just curious what everyone is using to connect to the Internet at home. (or at work if you don't have a connection at home)

David,

At home, Rosie and I are on the same wave length, so we are never disconnected. n But i find it very disconcerting when she reads my mind and answers my questions before I ask them.

You'll find out.

i went from WebTV (s l o w e r t h a n m o l a s s e s.....) to DSL
i don't know what we use on the computers at work, but we do have some dense wave division multiplexers that will send 172,032 T1's, or 4,135,680 voice/data channels down a fiber optic cable the size of a piece of spaghetti at 318,504Mb/s!

I would write more, but it is going to take too long to upload the post.

That's insane! I had no Idea data rates that fast could be achieved, even on optical fiber.

its cool stuff - they split the light into different frequencies (colors), and send it all down one fiber. it operates in the Tera Hertz range! i'm scared to work on the thing - screw up and drop communications for the city! makes you wonder what kind of toys the military has now.....

You know... since most of us have 'fast' connections, how about the admins change it so we can see pictures?

I mean, this is hte only forum I know if where we can't post pictures, only provide links, and the excuse was 'people are on slow modems'.

Let's get into the next century here, folks.
