Project idea - STI to SVX strut adapter plates?

My mind was wandering this afternoon...

Is there any interest for something like this? A set of adapter plates to use STI struts in the SVX bolt holes. I am talking about the top mounts.

Sort of like the kmac camber plates but with no adjustment. Or maybe an adjustable version?

Maybe it wouldn't work, just wanted to throw the idea out there and see...I have the ability and CNC milll to crank them out if is feasible.

Re: Project idea - STI to SVX strut adapter plates?

I like the idea, I dislike adding extra holes on the strut tower (even if it can handle it) I just like the cleaner look of stock there.

I would be interested in a adjustable set.

This is what I have currently but I am not really satisfied with them lets see what you come up with.

Well it's too late for me at this point but it could be a worthwhile project. I can see a few hurdles though:

-Would these be for coilovers or OEM struts?
-If coilovers, are the camber bolt slots a universal size or is there some variation there? They wouldn't be hard to make; pretty simple one sided machining, paint/powder/anodize, and press in some studs. Voila.

I see more of a market for coilover top plates which should be about the same, or possibly much simpler than making top plates that will work with the OEM STI Strut.

Drilling is really a minor thing. 05-07 STI coilovers in mine.

Front

Rear

Front swaybar endlink solution.

Re: Project idea - STI to SVX strut adapter plates?

Very nice. I like the setup. A couple Qs:
Do the knuckles bolt up or Did you have to drill those too?
Did you have to weld that connector on the a arm for the end link?
What kind of coilovers? Cost?

I need new suspension and. The 1500$ for the svx specific coilovers......not the business.
Thanks!

Re: Project idea - STI to SVX strut adapter plates?

Yes I welded the tab on the A-arm for the end link.

I'm running fortune 500 05-07 STi coilovers, they run about $1600. There are cheaper ones out there, but I wanted something decent. An important point for me is them having separate height adjustment so I don't have to change the spring preload to change the height.

In the front at the knuckle I had to open the top mounting hole on the coilover about 1/4 inch downwards toward the lower mounting hole. All camber adjustment will be from the top hat for fine tuning.

In the rear at the knuckle I actually took the knuckles off and had 1/8 or 1/4 inch (can't remember right now) machined off of the knuckle strut mounting point so i t matches the thickness of every other Subaru knuckle out there.

I made the permanent modifications to the SVX because if I need to change out the suspension again I can much more easily find STi coilovers and just install them now with only slight modifications to the front mounting point at the knuckle again.

Sorry did not see this before, I have one of the first sets of Cedika coil overs, they came with sti sized top mounts, as well as knuckle mounts.

I had a machine shop take the svx top hat and the sti top mount and make me one that would work.
