front suspension rebuild needed

It seems my front suspension has completely rotted out on my 94 SVX w/201,000= miles. I'm not completely sure what needs to be replaced but my mechanic said the entire suspension is gone and will cost more to replace than the value of the car. Not ready to give up yet. But I know the struts(Koni inserts) are on the list of replacements/strut mounts and I can see the steering rack is leaking oil and needs to be addressed but he mentioned the sway bar (not sure if he meant the entire bar or end links.bushing, brackets). I asked him for a complete list but he didn't provide one. If I decide to replace the many parts, what is recommended, use OEM replacements as in stock or are there aftermarket/ (Subaru STI performance) that are better but my need slight modification (lateral link)?
