what do u use to polish the intake

Like turn your intake manifold to polished aluminum? An ass load of work. Do a quick search, you'll get piles of info. Or even search here, it's been done.

1. Use a die grinder with aggressive pads to knock down the casting roughness
2. Use progressively finer pads to smooth the scratch marks
3. Wet sand the entire thing with 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500, and change directions 90 degrees every time you change grades.
4. Hit the entire thing with polishing compound
5. I like to top that off with a very gentle compound like Scratch-X
6. Repeat the polish stage every month when it starts to oxidize.

Aluminum polish works OK, I got some new stuff that I was going to try. Ill let you know how it works.

well gave it a quick try and it worked OK. In the past i have used mothers aluminum polish and it works fairly good.

The mothers aluminum polish does work great on the ac lines too.

Clean is what I should have said . maybe one notch above original. I think I would be happy to see it look new again

Is that painted or just clean?

Go to your local Ace Hardware and get some Duro Aluminum Jelly Cleaner and Brightener. May have the Loctite branding now, same stuff.

It is a gel that you can brush on and control exactly where it goes; clings to vertical surfaces.

Use a stiff toothbrush or a brass cleaning brush (will not leave black marks on the aluminum) to scrub problem areas like crevices. After a few minutes, rinse with water to stop the etching action. Will remove dirt, oil and the "white rust" which is the oxidation on the surface of the aluminum. Will not harm anything. You can easily do this multiple times on problem areas

I used this alone in the past and as a prep for my manifold painting.




The first time I used it I brushed it on and worked it with the brush as described above. After about 5 minutes I wiped it with a wet sponge, which neutralized the acid and then dried it off. I reapplied it a second time and after 5 minutes hosed it off and dried it.

I have used this stuff with good results.

Picked up the Loctite Aluminum Jelly and it did a good job of cleaning. Rinse
water was the color of concrete. Unfortunately, the annoying dark stains
remain. Photo shows left side done versus right side before.
