'thunk' when shifting into reverse - only when cold

Transmission shifts great otherwise, has external cooler and the quick change shift kit. once car is warmed up 2-3 minutes it shifts into reverse without problem. When cold it 'thunks' and it doesn't seem smooth going into reverse. no problems with other gears ever. Trans mount? Or is line pressure bad when cold?

Thanks as always,
David

You've gotta give more time than a couple hours for a response...
It could be the rubber in the mounts showing age, could be a number of things. Can you hear the clunk and where it is coming from or do you just feel it?

The rear differential rubber mounts, when shot, make that sound when shifting into reverse...very carefully, with parking brake on, maybe wheels chocked, look under rear of car, at the mounts, while someone shifts into reverse...

If the rear diff mounts turn out to be the problem, I have an awesome fix for you: http://svxworldforums.com/view_topic...65&forum_id=13

The subframe bushings aren't necessary, and you don't have to cut away as much of the diff bushing inserts as that guy did. Just cut a little bit at a time and try to squeeze them in there until they fit. I have been running these on my blue car since the 6-speed swap and they're great.

Excellent sir. What is the benefit of doing this? Stiffen things up?

The Fifteen Minute Mod actually does a better job ot lesening the movement and its easier and cheaper!

However the bushings are up tp $7.99 each now so its now $16.00, plus tax.

Re: 'thunk' when shifting into reverse - only when cold

The 15 minute mod will help too, depending on which part is wobbling, but that set of bushings comes with some inserts you can use to do basically the same thing, so you can kill two birds with one stone basically.

The diff insert bushings stiffen things up quite a bit. If your bushing mounts aren't completely trashed they are a decent alternative to replacing them (those are a massive PITA for the DIYer).

I'm confused. All you guys thought that me asking a question had something to do with 'girlz'? Your humor is going right over my head here bro.
