Can anyone ID this wheel?

These are the wheels that came on the SVX I bought- I will either clean them up and paint them or clean them up and sell them, but I wanted to find out what the heck they were regardless.

I don't know a whole lot about them, nor did the PO- I can say for certain they are double-drilled for 5 x 100 and 5 x 114.3, are 16", and currently have 225/60/16 tires on them. I do not see any maker's marks on them, and if there was on the center caps, they have been painted over in red. They are 10 spoke and are a silver/gray color, possibly painted over from the factory finish.

Any help is most appreciated!

Re: Can anyone ID this wheel?

Have you ever taken these wheels off? That doesn't look like a center cap, looks like the hub center. Painted red along with the rotor.... yuk.

If I had to guess at the brand... I'd say maybe old Rotas? There's no way to tell.
Those are some interesting lug nuts as well...

Re: Can anyone ID this wheel?

Nope, haven't taken them off- one of the guys on NASIOC ID'd it as a Primax wheel, and with GIS I find it's a Primax 618, 16 x 7, and I get to hunt for the offset now.

The lugs are apparently special and came with the wheels- the red valve stem caps are rather special too . Now that you mention it, I do think those are the stake nut caps painted red. Just one more thing to take care of- I got most of the fake CF stickers removed from the car.

Re: Can anyone ID this wheel?

Gah, +38 for the 16 x 7- like the bearings didn't have enough trouble on their own without the wheel's mating faces being 1/2" off where they should be. Looks like these will end up on Craigslist for the Honda crowd.

Re: Can anyone ID this wheel?

Yea those are the axle nut caps painted red. Wow you have your work cut out for you if this is representative of the rest of the car. Good to know the car is in good hands though.

Tell me about it . It apparently had one of those aluminum racer (ricer) wings on it at some point, akin to the attached pic. Poor thing!

Hard to tell from the picture but are they this kind?

If they are, get rid of them ASAP. Hopefully you've had them off the car before and they'll come loose easily, but if not you could be in for a fight. Nuts like those with open ends tend to seize onto the studs, especially if the car has seen salt (which I assume is likely in New Hampshire) which gets in there and rusts the studs out even worse. If you've never removed those lug nuts before get some penetrating oil in there and let it soak.

Those damn things should be illegal, I've seen countless cases of those seizing to the studs resulting in the hex being stripped out, the tool being rounded off, the nut itself splitting, or the stud snapping. I've seen cars where those nuts have had to be torched off, chiseled out, and generally destroyed to get the wheel free. It almost always goes very badly.

You are right, what an idiot... but it doesn't look like an alum. wing. More like a plexi/fiber compound one.

Re: Can anyone ID this wheel?

Crazy_pilot- they are very much like that, but the key is more torx-shaped than hex- from the condition of the nuts, I know I'm in for a battle worthy of a Greek Epic when I go to remove the wheels.

SilverSpear- that was the best pic I could find; I think that might be a CF or CF replica (ie: fiberglass) spoiler in that photo. I do have a nice double row of holes, 6 per side, on the trunklid. They are currently covered with black electrical tape to keep the rain out.

Good luck! The torx fitting might give you the advantage you need to get them off.

I think his comment was worded like that because the picture is his car

Ursalia, I can understand people's point of view concerning the elevated spoiler, and please note not all of them are just for looks.

I chose this particular one because it was copied (in China obviously) from a genuine aftermarket spoiler. It is of high quality, the brackets are powdercoated, etc...

I was 21 when I installed it on my car, yes I was an idiot but not a complete idiot. At least I didn't buy the cheap, non-working alum spoiler with the straight multi "benches". At 80mph the wing applies pressure on the back of the car and at each speed I can feel the nose rise a bit...

6 years later I removed it in mind to refab new lower brackets and cut short its length by few inches...

P.S: What you see as bodykit on the car, I fabbed it entirely myself out of fiberglass, it will be also redone when the time is right.
