Sad Times

The pylon500 SVX is suffering a bit of a decline
About four months ago I started getting transmission problems that I left un-attended for too long, which resulted in losing 3rd & 4th gear.
Being busy with other (Flying) projects, The SVX was left in the corner of the hangar for about three months.
I finally couldn't stand it any more and dragged it to the local Subaru dealer (Taree) to see what could be done that would cost more than the car's worth.
A deal was struck where parts would be used from my two boxes, the original that was overhauled about four years ago, and the JDM box currently in the car.
This all basically worked and only cost around $1200, it had a slight judder under acceleration (which was mentioned), but we thought this may be some of the packs 'bedding in'.
I also noticed a transmission fluid smell once it warmed up, but put it down to a bit of spillage.
Now the drama.....;
I had just bought a damaged ultralight, (a Murphy Renegade) in Sydney and had to tow a large empty trailer down to get it.
The day I picked was Fathers Day, which turned out to have some of the strongest wind gusts of the year.
So, at about 12:30, some 12klm down the freeway, I was hit by a side gust of about 35kts, which rolled the trailer, lifting my back wheels off the ground whereupon the trailer and car jack-knifed and ended up going backwards down the road against the 'Armco' railing to a stop.
As I was only travelling at 90~100kph, I was being passed regularly by many cars, but somehow we managed to spin around but not hit anyone
Damage; The left side of the car was hit by the roof of the trailer while the front/right corner of the car hit the 'Armco', breaking the headlight and turn indicator while denting the guard and bonnet
I guess my post is, "Does anyone out there have any front/righthand bits that would keep my car on the road?"
Arthur.

Re: Sad Times

Sorry for your misfortune. I hope you can get some parts locally.

On a side note. I hope you have a transmission cooler installed if you are towing large trailers. More tranny problems are in your future if not.

Re: Sad Times

You could try Brookvale Spares - they had a complete SVX that they were wrecking so you may be able to get some panels etc. tel no 02 8788 8888.
