Climate Control on the Fritz

I think the buttons have worn out or something. If I brake sometimes, or hit a pothole, or something, it'll go crazy and start blowing air out of different vents. I literally have to punch it to get it to get back to normal. It gets stuck on displaying -188 on the temp display unless I knock it, then it'll go back to normal but eventually get back to -188. Anyone dealt with this before?

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

Anyone with info on this? It switches between defrost, auto, and econ on its own. Starting to drive me nuts.

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

Press and hold the "auto" and "off" buttons, and turn the key on. It will do a self-test and then display codes on the temperature display.

Details in the attached PDF.

Sounds like the control unit is on the fritz to me...

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

Well, that explains all those numbers popping up, but I think it's ALL those numbers that are popping up. Must be the actual unit then, right?

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

Did you run the self test? If it won't do the self test, then yeah, your control unit is probably messed up somehow. It's possible you just have a bad connection either inside the unit itself, or at the back where the connector plugs in. Someone on here should have one, if you need one...

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

That's exactly what my climate control was doing in my 92. Except it would display 448. I replaced the whole climate control unit. Works great now.

Re: Climate Control on the Fritz

The numbers that pop up are 13 and 48 if I remember correctly, but again, there's nothing ever wrong with how things are going on until it freaks out. Might have to replace the climate control like you girly.
