Re: Tire age issues?

I have seen very old tires that were hard as steel. They rode like crap and did not wear at all. Once replaced, the car drove like a different one. By the way, they sounded like the bearing were going out and when the tires were replaced, the car sounded like - well, didn't sound at all. It was very quiet.

Re: Tire age issues?

Another little note about the date code - it's only stamped on the inside sidewalls.

Right - let me rephrase that

The date codes are only on one side of the tire, "usually" the side that ends up on the inside. Why that is I don't know. I have one set of directional tires that where the date code ended up on the inside sidewall on the left, and the ouside sidewall on the right.

So never mind

Re: Tire age issues?

My "new" corolla tires are from 1993!

If I brought it up to Pepboys, you think they will actually do anything about it?

Re: Tire age issues?

They are trying to mandate the date code being stamped on both sides. Unfortunately for the tire manufacturers alot of molds will have to be scrapped or reworked at quite a bit of cost and time.

what brand? If they are michelins the company should replace them if pep boys won't. In any event I'd call pep boys first and after that call the tire company's customer service department.
