Re: SUBYDOO Needs New Shoes

I put escta asx's on the wife's lego gt last year. Good in snow, good in rain, okay for grip when dry but no better than the original re-92s that it came with. At $200 though for 4 they're pretty nice.

Larry

I used two sets of Kumhos Ecstas on my Claret car when I had it. I found them to be good.

We don't get snow here, much, but they were good on sheet ice. I also liked the fact that they were good in the wet, very important here for a lot of the time.

They were quiet, even when the tread was well worn, and they were grippy enough, and because of the soft sidewalls they rode comfortably and suited the suspension of the SVX.

That last in fact is why I bought a second set, rather than go for a different or more upmarket make.

If I was to put it in a nutshell I would say that they suit the SVX and they may perform a little less than best-of-breed, but way beyond their cost bracket.

good to hear, because i wasn't too familiar with them when i bought them, but i did read a few good reviews elsewhere. i "upgraded" my wheel and tire package with the Kumhos for a few bucks more over the "Sunny" brand of tires.

Re: SUBYDOO Needs New Shoes

I thought they were quite good Alan, which is why I went for the second set.

If I was to fault them, well maybe they let the car roll a little bit more than a set with stiffer sidewalls might do, but they do everything else so well for the money, I found I could live with that.

Re: SUBYDOO Needs New Shoes

I've used the Kumho Ecsta ASX's on both of my SVXii and I'm quite fond of them for an all-season... They stood up very well during a mad, multi-state 11:00pm - 6:00am dash to grab copies of a certain collector's edition video game, during a snowstorm. Never had an issue with them. I would be considered a 'spirited' driver, but I'm not hardcore... So, I couldn't really speak from a performance connoisseur's position.

All in all, I've been very satisfied with them for wet/snow/dry performance, the road noise is decent and they're a comfortable ride.

They certainly have my recommendation.

Costco routinely gives $60 rebates and tire rack will match this. Ask them...

I love hitting standing water with them - they don't budge.

In addition to any costco or sams or tirerack rebate you can get, I can get you a manufacturer rebate form for another 60 refund. The promotion is only until the end of october though.

Re: SUBYDOO Needs New Shoes

Thanks Guys. I just want them as a tire for the car for everyday. We don't get much snow in DE now, but that may change as we are getting into earth cooling. As I said, SuBY is becomming a garage queen. SVXY is my every day driver and I have new TOYOs on him. The money that I save by buying the Kuhmos I can put into the "Sooner or Later You Will Need ATranny Fund."

Re: SUBYDOO Needs New Shoes

my choice is cooper xeon tires fairly inexpensive good in 3" (inches) of snow great wet traction and nice stiff sidewalls. always gone with cooper and had good results just my opinion
