you don't have to load another page.
when you click the lower right most icon below a post it enables the quick reply box at the bottom of the thread.

I wholeheartedly agree. Another reason people don't want to turn off signatures is that many folks put their name there.

About the only thing that's worse than huge signatures is people who quote an entire long post just to comment on a sentence or two (or to say "me too").

Another vBulletin forum that I frequent recently added this feature: Each person's signature appears only in their first post on a page. This allows you to see it on every page, without having to see it over and over (if that person posts a lot).

I'd love to see a similar abbreviation of long quotes — if a quote is more than X lines long, truncate it (...) and have a control to click on to show/hide the rest. Or add a scroll bar to the quote display box. But that's probably something that would have to be added by the vBulletin folks.

That sounds like an awesome feature... I will have to do some research now.

I like this one better... Unfortunatly, with the other option, if you want to zip through a 15 page long thread and want some info on someone who posted earlier, you would have to search through the 15 threads to find that persons origional post.. WOuldn't a scroll or "show/hide" menu be even better?
But, your the boss.. lol

I think that you missed the part where he stated that the first post on EACH PAGE of the thread showed the signature. So if there were 10 posts by me on one page, my signature would only show up once. But if I posted 10 times, each on a different page of the same thread, my signature would show up 10 times on 10 different pages.

Ah! Thanks for the explination.. Sometimes I think I need to open my eyes a liiittle wider.. Well this idea seems a little better to me then.. Greatly reduces clutter, although I believe since the origional change, it's been much better.. Right?

Slickdeals.net is the site where I've seen that feature. They're running vBulletin 3.6.4. You can see the "one sig per page" feature in action even without a login (but I highly recommend signing up — the site is great for finding deals on just about anything, from gadgets to groceries).

SD has added a bunch of really cool features. I'm not sure whether they were built-in to vBulletin (or extensions offered by the vendor) or they were custom mods developed by the SD admins.

For example, every thread can have a "Wiki post" — when a thread is created, any user can create a new post #2 that can subsequently be edited by all users. It becomes a place to post relevant details, links, etc. that the thread starter didn't mention in post #1. Priceless for fast-moving deal discussions.

They also have "deal alerts" — you set up ongoing searches for keywords and/or thread ratings, and receive notifications whenever a thread meets those criteria. For example, here a person might set up an alert to watch for threads that mention "5-speed."

Yeah, I have seen the same functionality on Fatwallet.com... I frequent both :-)

Even if it was this way you can just click the person's avatar to open up their profile page and see their sig among other things,

Re: Forum settings change, input requested.

Not sure if you're aware, but this forum doesn't display correctly in IE8. Once you click on a thread, the page quicly refreshes to a blank screen. That is, if you don't hit the stop button fast enough.

Re: Forum settings change, input requested.

Thank you for doing it this way... People got tired of huge sigs on the USMB and complained, and they just turned signatures off completely, which really sucked. (And any time someone would open a thread to try and discuss it, the mods would just lock it)
