Yeah, that's how I see it too. I just hope we can keep momentum. I will try when we get to 20 though.

Not too bad. We need more of the lurkers to get into this though.
I either just missed this thread or ignored it. Anyhow, count me in and hold off on those Konis.

At this point I think i'd rather go to Koni's only because I really need to get my car really streetable asap.

Are you still offering the Koni's?

Yes, but there are none in stock at the US distributor. The next shipment arrives in late-August.

I just linked to this thread on two Myspace groups and the Automotive forums.com forum. Might help, might not. :/

I may be in for one if I get my car out again. That's another subject. I dunno, I'm on the fence. Koni= lifetime rebuild. These, are cool...but no lifetime warranty.

I think the "lifetime warranty" is great if they go bad a couple of years down the road. If they go bad after a couple of months, I think most reputable companies will make things right...

If my OEM struts lasted something to the tune of 14 years (speculation), why wouldn't these coilovers hold up under normal driving for just as long?

Many reasons. Who do you think has more money to spend on R&D and testing? Subaru? Or this new company? Also, the new coilovers are stiffer, thus they'll probably wear out sooner. I'm not saying they're crappy, it's just a fact of life. Shocks on a caddy last for freaking ever. Stiff shocks on a BMW, not so much.

I'm more concerned with the quality of the product, not so much whether they can take years of punishment. If I only drive ~5000 miles a year does the estimated life of the coilover double or stay the same?

I've owned several brands, and coilovers usualy last alot longer than normal stuts as they are damped heavier, and run more spring. This prevents bottoming out which can hork a normal strut in a hurry. Being stiffer they also have longer to go before they go away. The JIC's I had only STARTED to work ok with 15K miles on the clock, too stiff even turned all the way down. The Apex-I's were far better and going strong after a couple of years. The GPMoto ones start soft on setting 0, and are "steel bar" at the max setting. I had about a year and 10K? miles on them IIRC and still was working great at the lowest settings.

Anyhoo its a Subaru and has alot better body control/wieght bias than most cars. A SHO automatic for example could blow a set of koni's on the front in 5K miles thanks to them doing one genaric strut, and not having enough damping to control the wieght on the front wheels. Well that and the einbachs being designed for a 1989SHO which is 500lbs lighter and 300+ of that on the front wheels. As seen by most Subarus keep a modest amount of tire and the stock struts last near forever with normal street use. Of course put on big R-compounds or go hit a rally-X and stuff wears out alot quicker.

Bump!
Its a wonder why the aftermarket for SVX has been so slow, there just isn't much commitment. I think it is about time this beast got some better suspension options, the stock setup and the Konis just ain't cuttin it.

Here is a visual representation:

marshmellow suspension
Yeah that is a pretty good way to describe it; im fairly confident i could get my SVX to stand on a single front wheel with the soft suspension that is stock on theese 3600+lb beasts. PLEASE SIGN UP!! Our cars need this, IT DESERVES THIS!!
