the airbag deploys from front impact not the side. the sensor is really from forward to back force.
i got rear ended in my stealth on the highway and it didn't deploy either.
oh yeah. there are pics of that in my locker

I've seen some pretty bad stuff at wreckedexotics.com, where they say the driver walked away. Let's hope this person lived.

But I dare say items from that car might have bad Karma. Maybe you should stay away.

Sadly, I know that someone was in the drivers seat at the time of the wreck. The keys were still in the ignition, and the ignition was in the on position...

I said a bit of a prayer after I turned it off, hell, I was praying most of the time I took off parts. It was amazing being inside of that car. The floor of the car had buckled to the point that the drivers seat cushion was nearly touching the passenger seat. I took everything that was serviceable. It was a short list.

My SVX feels a little less safe than it did before I saw this car.

On a more amazing note, the drivers side door weatherstripping was intact. I have no idea how that made it through.

Tha car had to have been rolled after it got slammed by a big rig doin 70... Sorry, I have seen SVXes get slammed and rolled over and high speeds... driver's and passengers usually leave with minor injuries... These car are TANKS and they will take a hard hit without much issue. Don't feel less safe, in normal or even bad accidents the SVX HOLDS UP to many of the modern safety standards and probobly exceeds many as well. these are built to take a hit. If and when I have kids, they will be driving an SVX because it is one of the only cars I would feel they are safe in

I'll second that! I rearended a jeep in my SVX doing about 15-20mph and the damage was the same as when my dad put my other one in a tree at 100. The interior was tweaked a lil here and there, but the car fully intact! The front end only came in about 6 inches. You can see how easily the front end took all the impact

The guy that crashed that car is on the myspace SVX group. He posted a picture of it, and talked alittle bit about what happened. He had purchased the car just acouple hours before the accident and yes, he was pretty badly injured but is alive and well now. This accident actually happened almost 2 years ago. Ill check and see if I can get anymore info off his myspace page or post a link to his page here.

I saw another completely crunched SVX on myspace at one time. It was a red one though.

I believe it was GreenMarineSVX rolled his SVX at 70 during the dragon meet, not wearing a lapbelt and walked away with only a broken pinkie and a few scratches?

No, the guy from this crash was pretty badly injured, he has x-rays of his arm on his myspace. It was a pretty bad accident. His screen name is "Volkswagon Warrior" http://www.myspace.com/josh_goff

Nothing short of a full NASCAR-type safety cage could have maintained the integrity of the cabin after so violent an impact. If you get hit that hard in ANY car and live to tell the tale, count your blessings, 'cos you've cheated fate.

This is a picture of Linda's Red 94 SVX.
She was doing at least 60 on a windy road when She spun it, into and over a guardrail.
Nothing broken, no cuts, just a concussion.
This is her third SVX, and her second SVX rollover.
But, once again the SVX did its job and saved the driver.

Thats why my kids have SVXi as their first cars.
I want them to live forever!
